Round 13 Summary
432 House members voted
214 Kevin McCarthy (R-CA)
212 Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY)
6 Jim Jordan (R-OH)
217 needed to secure the SOTH
**REMINDER:
The following two Republicans are not in attendance:
Wesley Hunt (R-TX) - wife gave birth yesterday
Ken Buck (R-CO) - funeral/mother passed away
Apparently the McCarthy team is hoping one or both will return today to vote. With the Buck funeral scheduled for this weekend, I don’t see him returning. Hunt is certainly a possibility.

Explain the math here please. How did it drop from 218 to 217?

Chatter (from CSPAN) ….
We may be about to see a motion (by Republicans) to adjourn until 10pm tonight. This is supposedly to give the two currently absent Congressmen time to travel back to DC.
If that happens, I’m sure we’ll see the same pattern as all previous motions to adjourn:
- A Republican will make the motion for an adjournment until 10pm
- An oral vote will be held (Republicans will vote, “AYE;” Democrats will scream, “NAY!”)
- A 15-minute electronic vote will ensue
-GOP will win the vote
- Rinse and repeat
