Homeowners insurance isn't subsidized by the federal government like flood insurance is. If you're in a higher risk area, your homeowner rates are going to be more expensive. Homeowner rates in coastal parishes is a lot more expensive than central or north LA. Closer to the gulf you are, generally the higher your premium will be.
