Not that we don’t need to grab a ready-to-play ILB if one’s available, but I think Penn is gonna transform his body with a full year in the nutrition/conditioning program and take a pretty big leap. I think he has good instincts, but is a little too soft/weak/slow. If he can shed some baby fat and add some good muscle, he’ll be able to go sideline to sideline better and make some of those plays that he seemed to be just a little late on this year.

What about that Fields kid we got from South Carolina, maybe? Was he eligible to play this year? Is he a potential starter or just a depth guy? Is younger Weeks good enough to play as a freshman?

He's been on ST's all season and I've noticed him on at least one series (but I might have missed a couple) the last few games. He just doesn't look as physical to me as the other LB's.
I think the older Weeks is one to look at for a bigger contribution. He looked to be thinking more than playing to me. CBK said early and many times how they all had to learn to relax and play fast.
A full year in Alignment and a DC that coaches LB's - I like West's chances to break out in 23.
