DOJ come marching into the state offices threatening with suits and the state said.. “well… we gave them that 1,000,000 dollars in Covid money they haven’t used yet”.

COVID money came with a whole host of environmental justice and DEI requirements and loopholes that States had to jump through...

This probably will not end well for MS or Jackson...

MS state govt has their eyes dotted and T’s crossed. That’s why the DOJ isn’t camped out on the Capitol steps with clenched fists yelling “get whitey!!!”

The city has to account for their funds they have been given in good faith. So that’s why the DOJ has filed actions to appoint oversight over the utilities and remove Jackson leadership from it. At least temporarily.

And notice that the DOJ hasn’t filed any actions for the city to provide accounting of the missing money.
