The best thing about an artificial tree is being able to buy a tree that is shaped for your specific needs. i.e. a skinny tree for small spaces, extra tall tree for high ceilings, etc.
Downside is 1) no fresh cut smell 2) losing the fun of picking out a tree with the kiddos

I’m surprise nobody has mentioned the worst part of having an artificial tree…..
Trying to get that motherfricker back in the original box
