Unfortunately, this is one of those situations where "you get what you vote for" doesn't fit as neatly as most assume.

I think about a third of homes in the Northeast use heating oil and a lot of these are concentrated in the exurbs and rural areas where people tend to vote red (outside of Vermont, which is pretty blue throughout). The cities and liberal enclaves have been updated with natural gas lines and more efficient energy systems but the folks upstate are stuck with old furnances and oil tanks.

Considering these people may be paying an extra $1000/month to heat their homes now that the lunatics are running the asylum, it may be time to start thinking about moving south. The weather ain't gonna change and neither are the Democrats. It's got to suck to walk away from the town and friends you have lived your whole life with but I don't see how average folks can continue to shell out an extra $1000 in taxes and an extra $1000 in energy bills every month just because the Bernie Bros are on the rampage.
