My mother went to LSU from 1951-55 and was a Tiger Fan. She grew up in a very religious family and when LSU played Ole Miss was nervous about saying Go to Hell Ole Miss because she was afraid my grandfather (a deacon in the church) would hear her on the radio. She said it anyway - just not quite as loud as the other students in the student section. My dad is from Alabama and is a Tide fan. He loved Bear Bryant and was offered to walk-on walk-on for Kentucky in 1951(he ended up playing football for Southeastern because he coudn't afford to walk-on). As a child, growing up here, we always went to the LSU/Alabama game. Whether it was in Baton Rouge, Tuscaloosa or Birmingham - we never missed it. Although my dad wanted us kids to root for Bama - my heart was always with the Tigers. It helped that I grew up here. I ended up going to LSU and a getting my undergrad and law degree. But, sitting in Tiger Stadium, Memorial Stadium or Bryant Denny Stadium as a kid with my mom in purple and gold and my dad wearing crimson with his houndstooth hat secured my love for the Tigers since childhood.
