The speech teacher was a very forceful personality and liked having athletes in her classes. She wanted me in the speech program. I showed up the first day of school and there it was on my schedule. As a dumb teenager I didn't realize I had a vote in the matter (her own son was smarter than I was and said no fricking way). I was in several productions, all of which were cringeworthy in the extreme.

As a senior in High School, I developed an awkward crush on a female freshman. She lived in my neighborhood so I started asking her if I could give her a ride home from school.
I was nervous talking to her while I was driving but I guess I thought I was earning brownie points for having a used car and a drivers license.
At any rate, a few of my senior classmates ribbed me about going after a freshman. I guess I wasn’t thinking because a year later I was dating a 24 year old during my freshman year in college. The HS freshman girl wasn’t interested in me anyway.
