I'm not sure how I view him, really. It's a mixed bag for me.
He was the head coach here for 11 and 1/2 seasons.
With Mettenberger being the exception, Miles won 9 games 6 times AFTER 2007 while playing "hide the quarterback" in the SEC. We know this is incredibly difficult to do.
I think Miles and staff did a great job over the years of bringing in really good talent everywhere except QB. Our teams were always tough and physical and we were in every game throughout his tenure, minus 8 to 10.
He did a solid job of maintaining strong teams. His worst 2 seasons here were 8 and 5. He never went .500 or had a losing season. There's something to be said for that.
But there is no way I could ever say he was elite. Not even close. I often wonder would our program could have been like had we brought in a top tier coach right behind Saban.
