She didn’t even have to believe this. All she had to do was prevent from doing stupid. She thought her privileges and victim cards were good beyond the US borders. It was her false sense of importance and invincibility that was her downfall.

All she had to do was watch Midnight Express before traveling.
For decades and decades countries don't give a crap that you're American...in fact, they take pride in arresting you.
This false bravado..."you can't do this to me, I'm an American" has never been true.
Privileges only exist within the borders. When we have weak administrations or those with awful ties or diplomacy, you ain't coming home.
