1. Fire Gibbs
2. Cut Jason David
3. Trade Grant (if that's even possible with that damn contract he has)
4. Shop Bush (chances are great that he won't sign a new contract when the time comes)
5. Fire Gibbs
6. Trade Brown...should be able to get a 4th, or 5th round pick.
7. With one of the draft picks we'll get in the the trades, draft a QB to start grooming.
8. Fire Gibbs...did I already mention this?

I think both C Grant and Will Smith need to get their contracts re done or cut them and we start over at DE. No pass rush from either one this year and they are paid like top DE in the league.

Yeah, pretty sure everyone is disappointed with the D- line play

4. Shop Bush (chance are great that he won't sign a new contract when the time comes)

Your a fricking idiot...I'd trade you for cigarette's

6. Trade Brown...should be able to get a 4th, or 5th round pick.

I'd rather keep- Brown, move him back to his natural position at RT, and then find a replacement for him at LT...either FA or draft.

I don't know what anyone else could do with that secondary. It really is aweful. However, I wouldn't mind seeing him go.

2. Cut Jason David

I'm ok with this.

3. Trade Grant (if that's even possible with that damn contract he has)

Who wants him? He's got to be one of the most overrated players in the NFL and he has a huge contract he's never earned.

4. Shop Bush (chance are great that he won't sign a new contract when the time comes)

I'm torn here. It would have to be a sweathart deal a la Hershal Walker or something like that. He's a good player but it's impossible for him to live up to the hype he had. I think he makes our team better, however I don't think he resigns either.

6. Trade Brown...should be able to get a 4th, or 5th round pick.

Disagree here. Draft a true left tackle and move Brown back to the right side.

7. With one of the draft picks we'll get in the the trades, draft a QB to start grooming.

I think they wait and get a late round guy like Rhett Bomar, Tom Brandstater, Dan LeFevour or Rudy Carpenter.

The Saints would take something like a $10.5M hit to the cap if they did this because of pro-rated bonuses (including a $4.5M roster bonus). It's not gonna happen. His base salary is still pretty low for next year. Now after next year, it could happen.

Hey, i think we need to fire Gibbs!!!

3. Trade Grant (if that's even possible with that damn contract he has)

geez these guys have been terrible... he and smith need to go, or at least get their contract re-done....

2. Cut Jason David

i would have had his playbook long before i took the punters. the opposing qbs eyes light up evertime he comes in the game...

4. Shop Bush (chances are great that he won't sign a new contract when the time comes)

won't happen, but i doubt he resigns...

6. Trade Brown...should be able to get a 4th, or 5th round pick.

i agree with earlier posters, move him back to his natural position..

7. With one of the draft picks we'll get in the the trades,

i don't trust their drafts...

For one thing, both Grant and Smith are too damned fat. Both look more like a nose guard than a defensive end ready to pass rush. And I know we lost a few tackles here but how many more years can we allow people to get 5 yards a carry on us right up the middle? I mean c'mon.

I am so sick and tired of watching Shanle running behind players. That guy has got to go.

There's just too many problems to fix in one post.

Smith is not fat. He's actually in really good shape. Grant on the other hand is so fat that after sex he rolls over and smokes a ham.

The saints are 16th in the NFL in rush defense. A vast improvement over last year.

He's a back up imo. Why won't they put Dunbar in and see what he can do???

Why would you want to trade Bush? It's not like we have a playmaker waiting in the wings. If we win a playoff game or two in the next couple of season, and lord help us a Super Bowl, he'd re-sign. We need his skills.

Firing Gibbs would be a start. But aside from one or two guys, we need to blow up the whole defense. The front office dropped the ball at the trade deadline, not making a play for Lito Sheppard. We should make a strong effort to make that deal happen this offseason.

We waited too long to trade Grant, as his value in a trade has diminished from his play this season. Smith has gotten pressure and been stiff against the run.

I do agree Brown should move back to the right side. Maybe we could move Nicks (who's been solid) to the tackle spot, since that's what he played in college.

Improvement yes, but not vast. I still just sat and watched Carolina get 5 yards running straight up the gut whenever they wanted it.

I still think Smith is overweight or just too damned slow to play DE. One or the other. Both Smith and Grant have been mailing it in.

Shanle is either a backup or unemployed. Wouldn't start for another team in the league by a long shot. I would play Dunbar over him too. Hell, play anyone who can run for God sake's.

Oh and I forgot in the last post, Gibbs has to go. I agree.

I like Nicks at guard. If we can't get Taylor Mays, I wouldn't mind getting A. Smith or M. Oher at LT. If not, grab one later like Phil Loadholt, Andrew Gardner, Fenuki Tupou or Kraig Urbik.

Drew Brees is 28, I don't think we need to worry about our next QB yet.

Are you on crack? Why the hell would you shop our biggest weapon? He might not resign, but we still have a few years with him. Not only does he make the plays, but like ive been saying, he is the best decoy in the NFL. Whenever he is in the backfield, defenses HAVE to watch him and prepare for the dumpoff or outside handoff, and the more they focus on Bush, the less they focus on colston, moore, henderson, shockey, and meachem. Maybe if we had someone that could play the role he does, but WE DONT. No one in the NFL does. Just because he is not the prototypical NFL RB DOES NOT make him a bust. You will be crying when our offense turns mediocre without him.

We REALLY need to address the OLine and DB situation.

Needs:

Free Safety, WLB, OT, C

New D Coordinator
O Coordinator so that Payton doesn't have to pull double duty.

If Melhaff doesn't come around by year's end we really need to find a kicker

I'd like to get Bomar, Dan LeFevour or Carpenter as a solid young back up and when Brees gets to be around 34-35 we have a 25-26 year old ready to step up and aren't scrambeling. BTW, it's the NFL and we need a decent back up.

Did you mean Smith? Grant is fat, no question about it. I've seen Smith's work outs and he is a beast and is in great shape. It's not translating to the field, but he is in good shape.

ya, but we can get a decent backup in free agency (Brunell would be just fine, and we can pick up a similar option in seasons to come). I don't think we should waste a pick on a QB when we may have the best in the league-also, he is relatively young. There are too many other more important needs: LB, CB, OL, FS - save the picks for these things
