ok, all this complete bashing of mccray needs to be halted. the fact is, the dude is a good player and has been productive since his freshman year.

2006: 30 tackles (12th on team) 1 int
2007: 64 tackles (6th on team) 2 int 3 sacks
2008: 18 tackles(4th on team)

sorry, but for a reserve player, this is great numbers. the main complaint is that he was burned by percy harvin. well guess the frick what? any other safety in the NCAA would get burned by percy harvin too.

so do i blame mccray for getting abused by one of the fastest, most explosive players in the country? no way. i blame the DC's for putting him in this situation.

People are looking for an easy scapegoat. Actually have seen posts claiming it "Changed the game" even though it was the third play from scrimmage. He should never have been in that position.

No one is arguing over his tackling skills. It's his cover skills that are so abysmal.

And no, the coaches didn't line him up on Harvin. UF got him in pretty much a mismatch. But that is because he is IN THE GAME in obvious passing situations as a nickel back.

you know what, frick it. why even line up someone on him at all? just let Tebow toss it to him uncovered.

No, the point is, when you have Chad Jones or you have Patrick Peterson, you put them in the game because they are faster and have better cover skills. This will make it less likely for us to get burned by Harvin.

I would say that he could've intercepted that ball, which would've made it interesting.

But LSU probably would've stalled anyway, so yeah, can't blame him.

i've been a critic of mccray at times, but he was there to make a play and it just went the other way. i sat there and saw him go up to knock the ball away and was dumbfounded at the result...he was there and just about made a great play but it just went their way. regardless of that play, it was obviously florida's night and we just did not show up.

he's not a safety, he's a nickel and dime back, which is sometimes man to man and some zone coverage

And we should quit asking him to do that. I haven't seen many safeties who can cover. The problem is that he's not quite a hybrid. I'd love to see him get some WLB action, but he's not quite that robust. He's in the mold of Clarence LeBlanc and Norman Lejeune...a safety with power and some speed, but sort of out of the place all the time.

good, I agree with you then. I don't hate him, I think we can all agree that the coaches should not even have him in the game on 3rd and long.

He's doing the best he can. That's all you can ask.

He's a safety who plays the nickel and dime positions in those schemes.

of a player. and no one is really bashing him, it's mainly the decision the coaches are making by putting him in there with a strong possibility of having to cover Harvin in the slot.

he is doing his best...but it isn't good enough.

i think it's shitty the coaches keep putting him out there to be embarrassed. no player should continually have to endure that.
