The new Ukrainian government disbanded/outlawed them after Yanukovych was forced out or removed. They were Russians from Crimea mostly that were used by Yanukovych during the Maidan. The ones remaining in Crimea before they were outlawed went over to the Russian side when Russia invaded Crimea.Yanukovych also used them as snipers during Maidan. They shot many people down in the streets.

I have a question for the board:
If Ukraine survives this, do you see them being invited and/or being granted membership to Nato? What are the chances of that happening?
