Question, if ever in a situation where someone lived nearby and was asked to evacuate.... After moving the family out, I'm assuming some baws would want to stay home and protect against potential looters. What type material would be best to improvise a breathing filter from (assuming fumes were possible)? Do any of you preppers keep a respirator/gas mask on hand?

I would be more worried about the shock wave and falling debris than fumes assuming a blast happens.

You will have way worse things to worry about than breathing.
