Not quite as clear-cut as you think. Louisiana is at-will employment state, but there are exceptions to that. You can't fire someone based on the employee’s race, color, sex, pregnancy, age, national origin, religion, handicap, or disability. There are other laws that protect people for doing things like... complaining about discrimination, filing worker’s comp claims, union activities, jury duty, whistleblowing or filing complaints with other regulating agencies (work safety, environmental, etc)
I have zero idea what this woman did or didn't do. So I'm not saying this was a wrongful or justified termination. I'm just pointing out that "at-will" has some boundaries you can't cross.
