I'm surprised any new cars have them, but I'm glad they do. My latest car has a factory entertainment system that plays CDs, DVDs, and Blu Rays, so I imagine CD players are hanging on in cars that way. My oldest car has a six disc CD changer, which I still use to this day.
CDs are still not obsolete, for many reasons. In fact, it's arguable they never will be obsolete in our lifetimes, as streaming services have content limitations that may never go away, if only to get worse. If you own a CD, you own a content license and the right to play it whenever and wherever you want, and you can put the content onto another medium for private use -- all short of public broadcasting, of course.
If I were in the market for a new car, but it was not offered with a CD player, I would definitely add an aftermarket player.

Bingo! I still buy and collect cd's, it is a hobby for me. Those remasters, deluxe editions, box sets, etc do it for me. It's the tangible excitement, to own them and to be able to read liner notes or see artist's photos. I have 250+ cd's, up to this day play them in my car and studio as well.
I have a 2011 car, it has a 6 cd changer, works wonders for me. My wife has a 2016 and it only has 1 cd deck. Yes it's old fashioned but then again it is a hobby.
Here, according to Google:
Is it worth buying CDs anymore?
If you're looking for a superior audio format, CDs are the best deal you're likely to get. ... Also, there's the resale value of CDs and vinyl. It might not be much, but you can sell your old records and CDs online or to record shops; if you buy a digital song, like an mp3 file, there's no resale value.
