The old adage "History repeats itself" may becoming true with all of this realignment stuff happening.
If nothing else, there is history with a few of the teams that have been mentioned as "targets" for expansion.
Here's a little history of the SEC:
The SEC was formed in 1933 with some members of the old Southern Conference (SoCo).
Southern Conference charter members were Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Washington & Lee. In 1922, six more universities - Florida, LSU, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tulane, and Vanderbilt joined the conference. Later additions included Sewanee (1923), Virginia Military Institute (1924), and Duke (1929).
I wouldn't mind having Virginia Tech and N.C State in the SEC. Most probably won't happen but still a thought.

I'd actually be a fan of bringing NC State in. They are deeply tied to the other NC schools so it would be difficult but it is a large school that isn't as basketball oriented as the other NC/ACC schools are. Plus SC/NC State have quite the rivalry (SC leads the series 27-26-4)
However adding NC State we might see what happened when we were added.. so far behind talent that we would spend years getting anhilated by the SEC until we finally became "respectable"
