Dominos are going to start falling

A source told ESPNDallas.com last week that TCU would have to pay a $5 million exit fee to leave the Big East, but would be able to join the Big 12 in time for the 2012-13 athletic year. If Missouri stays in the Big 12, the league would have 10 teams with TCU taking the place of Texas A&M, who is headed to the SEC next year. Missouri is exploring its options.

Nobody around here cared about TCU anyway and we always thought we were being used to they got a better offer. Good luck to them.

We would've joined the Eastern European Conference if it existed and winning the football conference title meant an automatic BCS bid. For TCU the move to the Big East was solely about that being the only school with a BCS autobid that offered. Now with the Big XII it's also about regional rivalries, revenue, and stability of the conference with the Big East having lost Syracuse and Pitt.
I don't think you were implying this, but it drives/drove me crazy when people said TCU should join a real conference if they want credit for their wins, as if they chose to be in the WAC, CUSA, and MWC after the SWC breakup. Almost as dumb is when people say we should play a tougher schedule OOC, as if that was solely under our control also.

It's a good move for TCU and the Big 12.

Same could be said about Boise St.

Yeah for sure. Though I don't think they were much further than we were traveling in the Mountain West. Since 1995, it's been about getting in the most respected conference possible regardless of anything else. We've now climbed the latter from upper-level non-AQ conferences (times 3) to the worst AQ conference and now to the second worst AQ conference (a recent and perhaps short-lived position for the Big XII).

You sure about that? Look up the relative team rankings this season. For football, the Big 12 is 2nd only behind the SEC.
I don't mean from a standpoint of rankings, because they're solid in that department thanks to OU, OSU, and Texas. I probably worded that poorly and should've said second least desirable. The PAC 12, Big 10, and SEC are essentially un-raidable right now and the ACC is seeming that way also. The Big XII for the time being is the second most likely conference to either lose its BCS bid or cease to exist in next several years only ahead of the Big East, so as I was getting at, the Big XII is the second lowest rung amongst BCS conferences on climbing the ladder only ahead of the Big East.

If the Big 12 stays together, it will not lose its AQ status. There is simply no chance of that happening.

As long as oklahoma and texas stay in the Big 12, there is a negative 1000 percent chance of that happening

Agree with both of y'all, but a month ago they both (Texas and OU) had a foot out the door. The 4 conferences I'm listing as more stable than them at no point ever have had any threat to losing all of the schools that make it a BCS conference, as the Big XII did.
