Tulane was a charter member of the SEC and would still be in it if they had not chosen to leave, along with Georgia Tech, in 1966. Vanderbilt is a very Tulane-ish school that is still in the SEC.

Vandy compared to Tulane shows you just how incredibly stupid Tulane was to ever leave.

Tulane should be the 14th move bama and auburn to the east. Tulane brings a great baseball program an up and coming mens and womens basketball program and a football program that just waiting to explode.

Give Bama and Auburn the death penalty.

Bring in A&M, Tulane, Oklahoma, and Okie Lite for the west and Clem's Son and VT for the east.

I agree, enough with the non-AQ's and C-USA alums already! The SEC does not not need another power in the East as it would mess up the balance, but it does need a directional or city school either.

Va Tech, UNC, FSU, Clemson, etc are not coming. It will be NC State or WVU as the 14th.

The sec is a public-school, football Powerhouse,(although we are also a baseball powerhouse),but we are the best at America's most popular sport.

The 14th team must be at least a good football program we don't need a team that will weaken us.

We are not looking for, nor does the sec desire, a basketball power!

Louiville was 6 and 6 with an extremely wimpy scheduale. They are tulanish and not an SEC type school.

(in 2010 not including bowl game)

the school that the SEC wants in the East is Va tech....it would bring in the DC TV market

Yes and no. Maryland is in suburban DC and gets most of the local coverage in the DC media and there's Georgetown

This. Have any of you lived/worked there? It's a pro town and CBB town. If any college loyalty exist, it's for their alma mauter as most people that "matter" (meaning $$$$ and power) are not from there.

Locals are Maryland fans. Maryland has a bigger following on the East Coast than most know. BBall is the reason. CFB is not big in DC and Va Tech brings no cache there

BUT....pair them with UVA, you bring in a state that is actually the FIRST southern state. I was rather against VaTech when this all started, now Im moving to a VaTech/UVA east and A&M/Mizzou west

Not to mention, their recruiting coordinator was implicated in the U situation. And he brought several highly recruited Miami area kids with him, one of which was mentioned by Shapiro.
