For 2012 like some people are saying....

How does that work into the schedule?

East and West divisions won't have the same number of teams, and you'll have an odd number overall.

What would we do?

Drop Towson State and add A&M.

Basketball will be easy since the SEC is doing away with East/West. Perhaps baseball should follow that. In baseball just play everyone but 2 others and you get the same number of series as currently. Football.........no clue how it could work.

Not just our schedule, but A&M's and the rest of the SEC. The West would have 7 teams, while the East only 6, so every team in the West would have one more conference game than the teams in the East.

Exactly, no home and home so there's something uneven every way. Maybe make A&M a provisional member with the promise that a certain number of schools will play A&M but it not count as a conference game? I could not see A&M agreeing to that. Wouldn't be really fair.

The MAC has 13 teams they figured a way to schedule.

If the Mac can the SEC can too.

I was doing some searching as well, and this is their schedule -> LINK

If anyone wants to decipher out all the OOC games be my guest and let us know what the deal is.

They have 7 teams in the East, and 6 teams in the West: LINK

ETA: After clicking the link make sure to filter it to just Football, not All Sports.

maybe...doing some old research LSU played Tulane and TCU in the 60's and the games were designated conf games but not really cause neither was a member at that point

maybe 6 west schools dump a ooc, 2 east do the same but then you've got some schools playing "9" and others playing 8 if my mind is working right

eta: I think they have #14 ready to go

Pretty much the schedule can't be balanced yet either A&M will be a game short in the west or an east team will have an extra game. I know it might sound crazy, but I don't think their games should count as conference games that first year. They should have a heavy SEC schedule. I actually think that they should be welcomed in by playing the other 12 teams, that way the schedules are balanced and(although it won't happen) if they run the table they will basically be viewed as SEC champs come bowl season. They just couldn't get Atlanta that first year.
