Nothing to say to this? Are you backing away from this because you know you can't win (which we shall now call "pulling an Aggie")?

I'm not surprised by the arrangement with TCU as many others are. Even though TCU wasn't the first choice for the Big 12 (don't take that personally TCU, you know the name of this realignment game) they ended up in a much better spot. It'll be interesting to see what they can do with the increased revenue each year.

TCU isn't going to be undefeated all the time obviously, the increased competition will take of that, but I think they'll be competitive. They have a good coach and have something to sell to recruits.

I think TCU is going to quickly find out the not-so-fun parts of being in the Big 12 as far as how the conference is run, and the non-existence of a Big 12 Network and conference championship game is going to set the Big 12 back pretty hard, but it's an AQ conference and that's all TCU really cares about. They won the Rose Bowl without a huge yearly TV payout.

But for the record, let's not kid ourselves here. TCU isn't even the most popular team in the DFW metroplex. You have 71,000 living alumni, A&M has 50,000 current students. You had a nice 10 year run, but your only meaningful bowl wins have been against Boise State (which was a game NO ONE wanted to see, and then you lost to them the next year) and Wisconsin. In the meantime you played in the MWC, woohoo.

Yes, A&M hasn't won a bowl game since 2001, but our bowl games have been against a good teams like Tennessee, Georgia, LSU, Cal, and Penn State. In that same period TCU has played Northern Illinois, Colorado State, Iowa State, and another game against Boise State which again TCU lost.

In other words, two very solid years of football does not make a legacy team. TCU is, in reality, a small program with a good coach who played most of their games against very bad teams, and playing a couple of games against good teams. Outside of that TCU's athletic program goes as far as baseball then drops off. A&M finished in the Top 5 of over athletic programs for men's and women's sports. You would have to double the TCU alumni base to make it half of what A&M comprises of.

TCU is ranked lower than A&M academically, is not a member of the AAU, and doesn't even come close to A&M in endowment. Neither is it close to A&M in terms of median beginning and overall salaries.

We'll see how long that Rose Bowl victory will last you.
