The level of competition took a huge step down from the opener against Wisconsin, but LSU did what was necessary to hammer Sam Houston State 56-0. Anthony Jennings played an efficient game at quarterback, Leonard Fournette and Travin Dural provided some highlights and the defense pitched a shutout. The Sept. 20 home date with Mississippi State will be a more telling game.
