LSU's Zack Hess Earns National Player Of The Week Award

LSU sophomore right-handed pitcher Zack Hess was named National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball magazine on Monday for his dominant performance vs. Toledo on Friday night. Per LSUSports.net:

Hess, a product of Forest, Va., fired a career-high 13 strikeouts on Friday to lead LSU to a victory over Toledo. Hess worked seven innings, allowing one run on six hits with no walks while throwing 109 pitches.
Hess’ 13 strikeouts marked the most by an LSU pitcher since March 28, 2015, when Alex Lange recorded 13 Ks versus Kentucky.
Hess, who defeated Texas last weekend while posting 10 strikeouts, has recorded 25 strikeouts in 15.1 innings this season. His next start is slated to come on Friday at 7 p.m. CT when LSU plays host to Hawaii in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
