Georgia offensive lineman Monroe Freeling was selected No. 19 overall in the first round of the NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers.

Freeling wasn't widely connected to the Panthers in the predraft process, but tackle was a high-end need for the team even after adding Rasheed Walker on a one-year, $4 million deal. Taylor Moton is 31 years old on the right side with only two years left on his contract, making the addition of the uber-talented Freeling a smart add for the future. There's no pressure for the one-year starter from Georgia to break into the lineup, but he has starting potential down the road. -- Miller
