Auburn won its first-round game in the NIT on Tuesday night against South Alabama, 78-67, but did so without forward KeShawn Murphy.

Murphy, a senior from Birmingham, Ala., started in 29 games for the Tigers this season, averaging 10.7 points and 6.8 rebounds, but decided to opt out of the NIT.

Murphy did not show up for practice before the game and did not communicate his decision to the staff.
