re: 2016-2017 OB Waterfowl Shootout Thread *Update 1/16* - Gingersnap
I went down there back around 06-07 for a 4-H trip where we stayed in the lodge during the split and we spent a morning out in the marsh blinds watching birds. If we would have been hunting we would have been limited out by 8 and had a few specs fly over so close I could have hit them with a stick. ...

3 man limit by 8:30 yesterday. Had to break 1/2 in thick ice to put out decoys and to retrieve birds. Let about 40 woodies try to land and they would slide out across the ice. :haha: 2 greenheads, 12 grays, and 4 woodies. ...

re: Looking to buy my first rifle - Gingersnap
I can say with 100% confidence, that people who practice 300 yard shots, aren't asking for advice on entry level guns, optics, and calibers.
Which is even more proof the board shouldn't be pushing 700 dollar rifles and expensive glass on him. The guy has been hunting for two years ...

re: Looking to buy my first rifle - Gingersnap
I got a new tikka and I love it, but you are right you don't need that for a first rifle. Half the guys on this board got 1500 in rifle/optics and haven't killed 10 deer in their lives. Buy you a Rem700(308 or 270) or a Ruger American and a Vortex Diamondback. There is absolutely no reason you ca...

re: How long can you wait to clean ducks? - Gingersnap
I just finished cleaning about 40 and 12 geese we killed yesterday. We had a 8 HR drive home and it was 17 degrees with a windchill of 3 when we finished hunting and loaded up. Below freezing about two days is as long as I'm comfortable waiting. ...

 that was the farmer. And I don't know if the blue beanie was wore while we were hunting or not but I can tell you it wouldn't have mattered. We could have been sitting on orange 5 gallon buckets and still would of limited out. Non stop groups of anywhere from 100-500 birds cycloning down on us...
