We can call it March-April if Chix prefers, then we do clay season after that. Doesn't matter.

Rublev was defaulted at 5-6 in the third today for calling the linesman a f---ing moron.

I actually don't have a problem with what he said. I'm sure warnings have been given for similar statements before. But it bothers me that he got so close to the dude's face and said it, and I think that's why he got the default instead of a warning.

I think he may have already gotten a warning earlier in the match.

I think Rafa is in for IW and his exhibition with Alcaraz for Sunday is still happening.

Screaming too. That has to be a default no matter what he said imo.

Should bring my Bama hat to practice court 8 and stand in his line of sight.

More anti-Russian bigotry from the disgusting ATP. No other player would have been defaulted for this except Medvedev.

Some Indian Wells draw action:

Men

Women

Raonic/Nadal 1st round seems to be a big deal

I'm guessing PR is wild card? I think Rafa is up Thursday night.

Has anyone been to the tournament in Cincy just prior to the US Open? I'm thinking of taking my 80-yo mom as we've watched tennis together our entire lives but haven't been to a proper pro tournament together before.

Hotels seem reasonable and I'm assuming tickets to the quarters and semis would be doable. Any advice here or another site where I could go to get tips and strategies for tickets?

Watching last year there seemed to be a decent amount of available seats even for the later rounds.

Protected Ranking. Something to do with keeping your ranking when injured for an extended period and it drops too low.

Yep, Protected Ranking. Basically when a player is injured they can use their ranking from when they were injured for 9 months or 9 events once they return from injury. Wild Cards and direct entry don't count against the 9 event limit.

To make things more complicated, if you "re-injure" yourself the clock restarts and you can continue to use the original PR. So what you see is a veteran player use a PR for a Masters or Slam, lose in the 1st round, get "reinjured" and save the PR for the next Masters or Slam.

I went a few times as a kid. I think I last went in 2011 and 2017. It's relatively easy to get around. You should be able to find hotels, even if Kings Island is packed. I think I have typically stayed off of I-75, like a Holiday Inn near the IKEA and Top Golf. Looks like there is a Marriott and Courtyard over there, too. There are some hotels just a bit south in Sharonville, too. Over on I-71, you're closer to the park and tennis center, but there is probably less availability.

Keep an eye on what matches you'll get each session. I did Friday night and Saturday afternoon in 2017. I think that was a women's and men's quarter on Friday and two women's and a men's semi in the day session. We didn't bother staying for the third match, which was women's. I don't think they have three matches for Saturday afternoon now. In fact, I am seeing maybe a Monday final? Women's matches complicate planning. Night sessions are better for old parents.

Do you know if tickets are transferable (can you buy them on Stubhub the morning of the sessions)?

It looks like the players stay at the Marriott Cincinnati North and I have a ton of Marriott Points that I'd use

And yah we'd do exclusively night for my mom, I'd work during the day

Rune vs Wawrinka match getting interesting, I don’t think they like each other.
I think they had some words back at the Paris indoors a few years ago.

Always wondered how they verify the injuries. I mean having surgery would be obvious but I’m sure you could milk the recovery process.

Not sure about ticket distribution now. I think we got our tickets through the tournament in 2017. I did Ticketmaster resale for the U.S. Open last year. I believe I used Stubhub for the Toronto Masters a few times like ten years ago. Seatgeek was great for the national championship game, if they have tickets, you can trust them.
