re: Is Louisiana considered the "deep South"? - chauncey1
IMO, Louisiana does not culturally fit the Deep South. NW LA has greater similarities to E. TX. S. LA and NOLA have there own identities. NE. LA tends to be more S. AR/E. MS and is the most Deep South in LA. The Deep South should be SC, GA, AL, MS. I'd consider NC, TN, AR and LA as peripheral ...

re: and folks thought John Brady couldn't coach....... - chauncey1
Brady was a terrible coach. If you're saying otherwise, you either didn't watch the games or don't know basketball. I saw pickup games at the rec that had a more cohesive offensive strategy than Brady put together. Had it not been for Butch Pierre and Collis Temple II recruiting a plethora of local...

White non-college voters - chauncey1
Is anyone watching NBC and seeing the white non-college voter demographic commentary insulting to Trump supporters? It's kind of like saying dumb redneck in a PC way. I haven't seen NBC talk about any other race broken down based on education. ...

re: 5.3 Magnitude earthquake hits Oklahoma - chauncey1
Fracing is not the cause of the earthquakes. If you are making that assertion, you are ignorant to the process and basic rock mechanics. I suggest you start educating yourself starting with Mohrs Circle. There is stored energy in the earth. In Oklahoma a fair majority of the waste water injectio...

re: Oil back below $40 - chauncey1
"You obviously do not work in one of these offices in down town New Orleans, or you would know what has been happening there for the last year. They are forcing people in to retirement, a lot of people." - Forcing people into retirement is not the same thing as hiring recent graduates to replace...

re: Oil back below $40 - chauncey1
"There are people graduating with engineering degrees every year who can replace those individuals for half the price." I’m not trying to be rude, but that is an ignorant statement. The plug and place theory doesn’t always apply to skilled labor. Not sure if you are aware, but there are different...

re: Oil back below $40 - chauncey1
Sal, I understand your logic. I would argue stability in prices allow for more consistent development of the resource and allows consumers to budget accordingly. When a supply glut is obtained, prices drop. Companies then cease investment into the resource. This enables large price swings to occur...

re: Oil back below $40 - chauncey1
Gasoline prices are obviously related to oil prices. However there are other factors that can contribute to an increase or decrease in gasoline prices given oil prices being static. Refinery capacity is a great example. Natural gas prices are no longer tied to oil directly. Some people confuse ...

re: Oil back below $40 - chauncey1
Corporate is on the ball. An interesting narrative that OPEC came up with in the early 2000's was the price band mechanism. It essentially was a target price that would discourage alternative energy investment while allowing OPEC member countries prosper. When prices increased, OPEC governments ...

re: Joe Alleva is an Embarassing Amateur - chauncey1
I do not support Alleva or King. I've ceased my donations to LSU (With exception to the department I graduated from via the LSU foundation and TAF seat "donations".) It is the only way I can have a voice. I'm not an elite donor, but I have a reasonably high priority point ranking. I stopped alum...

re: Does anyone regret their college choice? - chauncey1
I consider myself lucky to have attended LSU. On reputation, it was the worst school I applied to, but I wanted to go there regardless of my parents opinions... I walked away with an engineering degree, great friends and memories. Any situation is what you make of it. I found out who I was at LSU. ...

re: Oil field effect on atendance/tickets - chauncey1
I'm considering letting my tickets go and I haven't lost my job, yet... I'm just trying to be financially prudent. It was tough enough to make games with kids last season. I can watch games on TV and don't need to drive in from Texas. It sucks, but I'm certainly considering it. The next few months w...
