President of LSU gets paid 500-600k a year easily by the taxpayers of Louisiana plus other perks such as a mansion. Yet, year after year, LSU has continuously dropped in the USNWR rankings. You can cite other rankings lists where LSU has gone up, they aren’t reputable like USNWR. I still remember just in 2015 that LSU was #129, then #135, now it’s #153. You fired Les Miles, but you won’t fire yourself... Obviously what he’s doing isn’t working and new leadership is needed badly and has been for a long time.

It’s not about academics or athletics, it’s about being a social justice warrior.

You want to fire him based on these silly USNWR rankings?

Among other things, but it’s something tangible that can pointer to, yes. You can keep your F King body pillow though.

I'm going to work backwards and make it clear that I agree with your last sentence quoted below...

quote:

Obviously what he’s doing isn’t working and new leadership is needed badly and has been for a long time.

But to answer your questions.

Because the Board of Supervisors hasn't terminated his contract.

plus other perks such as a mansion

Lol that thing isn't that nice...and he hadn't lived in it until about 3 months ago when he put his house on the market...presumably because he knows he's on a short leash.

Anyone that bases their decision on where to attend college based on the US News rankings shouldn't be in college. The bulk of the weight of those rankings is a combination of a beauty pageant or easily manipulated data to get a higher ranking.

After the elite schools at the top it doesn't matter much. I've had hiring input in my job for a decade. I've never thought to myself "this guy went to South Carolina or Auburn over LSU. Maybe we should give him a second look"

Yea but replace South Carolina with a Top 50 "public Ivy" and you'd notice that. Texas, Michigan, UNC, UVA, Georgia, Florida, Wisconsin, any of the UC schools ...definitely gets you noticed.

It all depends on the program, though.

For instance, you'd likely be better off going to Auburn Engineering vs. UGA's crap of an Engineering program.

Maybe for entry level jobs or Wall Street. I agree that a Harvard or MIT degree will be an advantage. Otherwise, nobody really cares where you went to school after you've had 3+ years of work experience. I know in my last job we had a Florida, Tulane and LSU grad (me) reporting to Southern Miss and Southeastern alum
