re: Defeat the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice expansion - Louisiana SB 187 - BeaumontBengal
My views were also not meant to offend anyone personally. I tried for the most part to use the terms anesthesiologist and CRNA instead of saying "you" and "me" to keep from things being personal. You could ask any anesthesiologist and they'd have similar opinions to me. As I'm sure most all CRNAs...

That's what sets you apart as a physician. You know your limitations, and put the patients best interest ahead of your ego.
No they respect our skills and let us practice within our scope.
I respect the technical skill set and knowledge of anesthesia of the CRNAs I supervise as...

Does my white coat say MDA on it? I know you want to make us as similar as possible and blur the difference as much as possible in the public's eyes, but the education of a physician is different than that of a CRNA....
It is completely legal federally for crnas to practice independently of a physician.
Trust me I understand what is legal, but that doesn't make it right or what is best for the patients....

re: Defeat the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice expansion - Louisiana SB 187 - BeaumontBengal
You regularly do brachial plexus blocks for upper extremity surgeries instead of general anesthesia? Place thoracic epidurals for thoracic surgeries? Perform nerve blocks to secure a patients airway while they are awake? If you do, I am impressed....

re: Defeat the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice expansion - Louisiana SB 187 - BeaumontBengal
You don't understand the business
And there it is. The only reason CRNAs want independence is financial. They want a physician salary, but don't want to put in the work required to obtain a physician's education. It's more about money than it is about patient safety with them. ...
they know the abilities of CRNAs
Yes we do. Not comparable to a physician. Despite your misleading of the public in attempt to expand your scope of practice through legislation. You want to be an expert in the field of anesthesiology, get the education required to be an expert....

re: Defeat the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice expansion - Louisiana SB 187 - BeaumontBengal
I've seen many a surgeon treat many an anesthesiologist/CRNA/curculator nurse/floor nurse/ER nurse/preop nurse/everyone like their bitch. Thankfully, I feel like that attitude is beginning to be a thing of the past....

I do supervise CRNAs. Most of them do a good job in the OR. However, they understand their role and I understand mine. I doubt any of them would try and tell me their education is equal to the physician anesthesiologists they work for. That's what I have I problem with, and as evidenced by this t...

Not mad. Living my dream of being a physician anesthesiologist. I usually don't sit to be honest. I try and stay engaged in the surgery because I understand what is happening on the other side of the curtain thanks to my medical education. Now this sounds mad:
I'm not even going to arg...
Yeah, we all ride a stool all day long.
I was talking about the CRNAs I see, who can often be found sitting in the lounge or sitting on a stool in the OR. Sometimes I feel like it's pulling teeth for them to stay over and work (for which they will get paid extra) even 15 minutes ...
