They are. Probably only 5% of your donation goes to those in need. It's a con like 95% of all charities.

my wife’s boss gives out 1000 $500 Costco gift cards each Christmas, employees submit a request for needy families, maybe through church, charities they volunteer for, their kid’s schools, etc.
