I thought it was Dre when he sold Beats for $1 billion to Apple.
Anyway...Forbes claims he's actually the first. Here's the breakdown.
$310 Million - Armand de Brignac (Alcohol)
$210 Million - Cash, Investoments
$100 Million - D'usse (Alcohol)
$100 Million - Tidal (Music Streaming)
$75 Million - Roc Nation (Record Label)
$70 Million - Art Collection
$50 Million - Real Estate

Not bad, from selling drugs a little over some decades ago to becoming a billionaire. . His wife is also pretty close to being a billionaire.

Not surprised. He's a smart guy, but people on here will write it off as bullshite because he's just another black guy making hip-hop to them.

Jealousy is a bitch.

Dre wasn't the only owner of beats. They had to split that 3 billion up with a few other people. I believe he ended up walking way with 750 million.

Russell Simmons has got to be close to a billionaire if he's not already one.

I bet he might have learned a thing or two from another billionaire in New York.

I thought it was 50 cent with Vitamin water?

Edit with info:

"50 Cent was previously one of the world's wealthiest rappers, largely thanks to his minority stake in Vitamin Water. In 2007, the Coca-Cola Company acquired Vitamin Water from Glacéau for $4.1 billion.

According to The Washington Post at the time, "50 Cent was thought to have walked away with a figure somewhere between $60 million and $100 million, putting his net worth at nearly a half billion dollars."

They'll probably write him off because he's a former crack dealer and now tries to school general population on social issues.

I don't care what line of business you're in, crossing the $1B threshold is an incredibly impressive accomplishment. Kudos to him.

Dre and Jimmy Lovine founded the company then I think a few other companies became majority stock owners which they eventually bought back the stocks right before selling to Apple..

But that wasn't Dre's only money stream.

Does he still produce music?

I do. I preferred it over Spotify and Apple music. I'm not an audiophile and can't wax poetic about the streaming quality. I just liked it better.
