re: What's the greatest/ most memorable play you've seen? - engl6914
I've been at Tiger Stadium games since 1960. I didn't get to see Cannon's run, 1959, so that's out. The best single play in terms of athletic astonishment and critical event of the game was Eric Reid's interception of Marquis Mays's pass at Tuscaloosa in 2011. It was followed by Wing's 75 yd punt...

re: What does LSU have to do differently on the offense to beat Bama next year? - engl6914
LSU mis-used its offensive personnel against Alabama. Western Kentucky scored 10 points against Alabama; that would have sent us into overtime against them. LSU has all the talent it needs to beat Alabama. Ordinarily when the defense holds Alabama to 10 points and forces two turnovers in Bama ter...

You guys are too young. Jesus, you've missed a lot. Ernest Maggiore--'63 thru '65, back when you didn't show up in the SEC without an outstanding defense....

re: Reality of the situation - engl6914
At this point I'm guessing we get neither Herman nor Fisher. I think we settle for a Fedora, Gundy type second tier coach. I still firmly believe it will be someone not mentioned here or spoken of much if at all. Get prepared for surprise and disappointment.
Rather than settle fo...

re: Game day folks!!! What are you thankful for? - engl6914
Thankful to be part of the LSU community after arriving as a refugee from Vanderbilt 48 years ago. Thankful for the start in life and to have been given the tools to make a difference in some other lives. Humbling to look at the list of distinguished alums on Wikipedia. Graduated '71 and Medical ...

re: Say Aranda does leave.. - engl6914
Charlie Strong will be looking for a job. How would everyone feel about him being DC if for some reason Dave heads out?
Keep it simple. Offer the head coach job to Coach Aranda. He's the kind of young, innovative and perceptive coach we've been needing. And he's here already. ...

re: When you need one yard for the Sugar Bowl and a possible top five year !!! - engl6914
I'm ready for a change. I say clean house, and hire PJ Fleck. He's a bright star. He's worth the chance. Jimbo is old and tired.
I'd hire that defensive coordinator as head coach, Aranda. He seems to be a bright, innovative mind that we should be looking to keep. He's here, too....

re: Perrilloux effect - engl6914
Perrilloux was arrested and kicked off the team 8 years ago....not sure how anything with RP affects our lack of quality QB play for that many seasons.
I think the initial poster correct; it was the Perrilloux situation that led to what we have. Perrilloux is one of the great tale...

re: Official I will be at the game thread. - engl6914
I saw my first Bama game in high school--1965. This will be my 51st year of this game. I've missed 3--just impossible to make. But have made the other 48. Seen 'em at Legion Field, BDS, and Tiger Stadium. The best football anyone can ever see, and I don't remember a single fight between the teams. ...

re: Loudest Stadiums (decibel rank) - engl6914
I remember the crowd let loose just before Florida game 2010, and for the first and only time I experienced ear pain from too much sound. If you do a search you'll see 130 DB is the sound experienced standing 50 ft away from a fighter jet taking off from a carrier deck with its afterburners on. Thes...

re: Are we as good as we think we are? - engl6914
LSU has the talent to play Alabama or Clemson straight up. The two close losses to two outstanding teams played on the road were costly in what they did to the team's confidence. The team has endured its coach and OC being fired, its starting QB benched, and its all american running back hurt. Alaba...

re: what has changed about LSU since you've been going to games - engl6914
Started going to games as a little 6th grader at Westdale on College Dr. Starting toward the campus on College Dr the homes trailed away and you drove at night through woods and pasture until reaching an intersection with a single blinking light and woodland at each corner, Perkins Rd and College Dr...

re: Will Fournette have success vs Alabama this year? - engl6914
Beating Alabama is asking a lot of a team that has both fired its head coach, offensive coordinator and benched its starting quarterback. Alabama hasn't had to go through any of that. They are a thoroughbred team, and I think it's just their year. That said, it can be done!...

I'm with Mr. Faulkner; we invited Univ of South Alabama to Baton Rouge to play football, and we should honor the invitation. No need to make a Univ of Florida out of ourselves....

re: Does anyone have a weird feeling right now ? - engl6914
I'm always the last guy to want a coach fired--it's just a game I remind myself. Coach distinguished himself in the way he personally represented LSU, in being a leader for the players, and just a quality person. We didn't have to worry about him disgracing LSU by philandering or violations of NCA...

re: The absurd part for Miles is that he didn't even try to fix it this year - engl6914
After the attempt to fire Miles failed last November I had a concern in my head he would feel afterward that he couldn't be fired, that the public had spoken and the AD/Chancellor couldn't overcome Les's public and team support. Maybe he felt the AD backing down represented a statement of public su...

re: Anyone else think that Brandon Harris starts Saturday? - engl6914
Because Coach's job is threatened I think we will see Etling start. Coach Miles's job being threatened changes everything. Without the job being threatened I'm not sure we would have ever seen Etling. I really hate seeming cynical, but that Jefferson/Lee thing left its brand on me. It would ...

re: Pump the brakes on Etling - engl6914
Gordy Rush said on Thursday show that DE does a a better job avoiding rush, stepping up in pocket and going through his progressions than Harris. Based that on his viewing of practices and scrimmages. We all saw same thing sat night.
The puzzle I'm trying to solve is the a...

re: Is Harris Salvageable? - engl6914
One of the principle teachings to a quarterback is for him to decide, before he arrives at center, what he is going to do if he is pressured by a defender. For whatever reason, Harris has not been taught or has not learned this. I say this after watching our last play yesterday, and many other pla...
