re: Has it happened before? Down three touchdowns to a top 10 team and come back to win? - engl6914 on 10/17/17 at 8:06 am
I’m not talking about just LSU; I’m wondering about any team at any time. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Early spread on LSU vs. Bama: Tide -24. - engl6914 on 10/17/17 at 7:59 am
I’ve lived in Birmingham and know the culture. Things are very easy for Alabama now. They looked on Florida State as their big game, and perhaps Auburn. They think of themselves as entitled, and have a certain disdain for others. Sure Sabin is one of the great sports psychologists, but LSU beating t...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Anybody hear Gary Danielson talk about Devin White at the end of the 3rd Quarter? - engl6914 on 10/17/17 at 7:42 am
I go back a ways; Mike Anderson has been the best linebacker I’ve watched at LSU, until now with White. The only linebacker that turned my head like White does was Lee Roy Jordan....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)
Has it happened before? Down three touchdowns to a top 10 team and come back to win? - engl6914 on 10/17/17 at 7:32 am
Sorry if this has been covered; time to read is an issue for me--but has any unranked team ever been down three touchdowns to a top 10 rated team and come back to win? It must be very rare. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (3)
re: And the Leading tackler in the SEC is? You only get one chance - engl6914 on 10/16/17 at 7:07 am
I've watched linebackers at LSU since Mike Anderson, and there are All-Americans in that group. But none of them have made me sit up in my chair and exclaim, "Whoa, dude!" until Devin White. The only other LSU player to compare him to is Tyran Mathieu. The only linebacker that made me sit up like...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Predict the remaining season - engl6914 on 10/2/17 at 10:55 am
We've been here before, y'all--1999, Dinardo's last year. We will lose out. Morale is collapsing. In 1999 I sat and watched loss after loss after loss. The first negative event to happen during those games led to a complete collapse. That's how I knew Sabin would be different in 2000. In his first ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: What's the greatest/ most memorable play you've seen? - engl6914 on 1/15/17 at 9:30 pm
I've been at Tiger Stadium games since 1960. I didn't get to see Cannon's run, 1959, so that's out. The best single play in terms of athletic astonishment and critical event of the game was Eric Reid's interception of Marquis Mays's pass at Tuscaloosa in 2011. It was followed by Wing's 75 yd punt...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: What does LSU have to do differently on the offense to beat Bama next year? - engl6914 on 1/6/17 at 7:16 am
LSU mis-used its offensive personnel against Alabama. Western Kentucky scored 10 points against Alabama; that would have sent us into overtime against them. LSU has all the talent it needs to beat Alabama. Ordinarily when the defense holds Alabama to 10 points and forces two turnovers in Bama ter...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)

You guys are too young. Jesus, you've missed a lot. Ernest Maggiore--'63 thru '65, back when you didn't show up in the SEC without an outstanding defense....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Reality of the situation - engl6914 on 11/24/16 at 8:40 am
At this point I'm guessing we get neither Herman nor Fisher. I think we settle for a Fedora, Gundy type second tier coach. I still firmly believe it will be someone not mentioned here or spoken of much if at all. Get prepared for surprise and disappointment.
Rather than settle fo...

re: Game day folks!!! What are you thankful for? - engl6914 on 11/24/16 at 8:11 am
Thankful to be part of the LSU community after arriving as a refugee from Vanderbilt 48 years ago. Thankful for the start in life and to have been given the tools to make a difference in some other lives. Humbling to look at the list of distinguished alums on Wikipedia. Graduated '71 and Medical ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Say Aranda does leave.. - engl6914 on 11/20/16 at 7:21 pm
Charlie Strong will be looking for a job. How would everyone feel about him being DC if for some reason Dave heads out?
Keep it simple. Offer the head coach job to Coach Aranda. He's the kind of young, innovative and perceptive coach we've been needing. And he's here already. ...

re: When you need one yard for the Sugar Bowl and a possible top five year !!! - engl6914 on 11/20/16 at 10:37 am
I'm ready for a change. I say clean house, and hire PJ Fleck. He's a bright star. He's worth the chance. Jimbo is old and tired.
I'd hire that defensive coordinator as head coach, Aranda. He seems to be a bright, innovative mind that we should be looking to keep. He's here, too....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Perrilloux effect - engl6914 on 11/6/16 at 11:17 pm
Perrilloux was arrested and kicked off the team 8 years ago....not sure how anything with RP affects our lack of quality QB play for that many seasons.
I think the initial poster correct; it was the Perrilloux situation that led to what we have. Perrilloux is one of the great tale...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Official I will be at the game thread. - engl6914 on 11/5/16 at 12:07 am
I saw my first Bama game in high school--1965. This will be my 51st year of this game. I've missed 3--just impossible to make. But have made the other 48. Seen 'em at Legion Field, BDS, and Tiger Stadium. The best football anyone can ever see, and I don't remember a single fight between the teams. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Loudest Stadiums (decibel rank) - engl6914 on 11/1/16 at 6:18 pm
I remember the crowd let loose just before Florida game 2010, and for the first and only time I experienced ear pain from too much sound. If you do a search you'll see 130 DB is the sound experienced standing 50 ft away from a fighter jet taking off from a carrier deck with its afterburners on. Thes...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Are we as good as we think we are? - engl6914 on 10/30/16 at 3:43 am
LSU has the talent to play Alabama or Clemson straight up. The two close losses to two outstanding teams played on the road were costly in what they did to the team's confidence. The team has endured its coach and OC being fired, its starting QB benched, and its all american running back hurt. Alaba...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: what has changed about LSU since you've been going to games - engl6914 on 10/28/16 at 7:13 pm
Started going to games as a little 6th grader at Westdale on College Dr. Starting toward the campus on College Dr the homes trailed away and you drove at night through woods and pasture until reaching an intersection with a single blinking light and woodland at each corner, Perkins Rd and College Dr...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (3)
re: Will Fournette have success vs Alabama this year? - engl6914 on 10/26/16 at 1:45 pm
Beating Alabama is asking a lot of a team that has both fired its head coach, offensive coordinator and benched its starting quarterback. Alabama hasn't had to go through any of that. They are a thoroughbred team, and I think it's just their year. That said, it can be done!...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
