Family and I have been going to Breckinridge for the last 7-8 years and are looking for a change. Considering trying Utah this year. I know nothing about the place though. Anybody have any rec's as far as a place to stay or ski? Looking for at least a 3 br and close to a lift. Kids need a ski school as well. Thanks in advance!

There are 3 corridors to ski:
1) Park City & Deer Valley
2) Big Cottonwood Canyon: Solitude & Brighton
3) Little Cottonwood Canyon: Alta & Snowbird
I'd suggest just picking one of the corridors and staying put since traffic can be terrible trying to get down through BCC or LCC if it's a powder day.
Park City & Deer Valley is a true resort town - a nicer Breck IMO, whereas the other two are more ski-centric. Alta & Snowbird are the best skiing, but they can get pretty crowded.
I'd just look into an Airbnb/VRBO in Park City personally.

Park City is really cool. Try to go eat at High West Distillery one night and also get over to Deer Valley and ride the funicular up to the St. Regis to have (at least) a drink.

Brighton and Solitude in Big Cottonwood are great for several reasons, OT as many people and most economical, however they don’t have the best frills, if that’s what you looking for. If you don’t mind coming out of pocket, hard to beat Deer Valey.

My daughter and I are heading up to Salt lake on New Year's Day. This is our first time to go in winter so I'll be following this thread.

You can stay at the summit canyons village and walk out your door onto a lift or stay in town near Main Street park city and take the town lift up the mountain. I have skied park city a bunch and find the easiest thing is to rent a van, and park at the first time lift daily. You can hop right on the lift and ski to payday to start your day. Leave the skis in the van every night and you don’t have to worry about hauling your skis long distances. Just make sure you get to first time early before the lot fills up. This will allow you to save a bunch of money on lodging by not staying right near the lifts.

Looks like tomorrow when we fly up it will be right into a winter storm Henry. In the salt lake valley the forcast is 8-12" of snow, and in the mountains 18-24". Wow!!!
