Did the online thing and went to a center to get fingerprinted yesterday. How long do approvals take?

Just got pre-check for my 14 year old 2 weeks ago. Went to fingerprint interview Monday. Had her KTN Friday afternoon online.

Just got mine in 3 days as well. They're really trying to push people to get them right now, so I guess they're expediting the applications. Glad to have it, have heard lots of great things.

Plan to do Global Entry soon which I think includes Precheck. One of the benefits of the Chase Sapphire Reserve.

Are most of the interview places at the airports? I figured I'd have to time it with a business trip.

From what I remember, Global Entry interview offices are mostly (maybe all?) at airports or border crossings. It is a different program than pre-check and requires you to go to a different office. The pre-check offices are the same places that do TWIC and other background checks.

Thanks for the info, I'll still do the Global entry even though it seems like a pain in the arse to do the interview.

If you are in BR I believe the closest office is at MSY. I know people who have scheduled a trip somewhere where there was a convenient appointment for Global Entry. Just made a short couple day visit of it.

My only issue with PreCheck now is it's popularity means that the line is way longer than the priority or even the general passenger line.

I hear this but at what airports? I flew in and out of Midway/O'Hare during the apocalyptic weekend last May and it wasn't true then.

I figure if it didn't happen then, when does it happen? Somewhere in-between completely not busy and slammed?

MSY in particular. Of the other airports I frequent I've dealt with it at MIA, DEN, and ATL.

Terminal C at IAH on Monday mornings are ridiculous. I've seen the normal premier line with 5 people and the precheck line with 50+. Which I never understood because they'll direct you to the precheck area no matter which line you're in.

Not shocked. They do change how they do Precheck from day to day which I'm sure causes confusion and slows lines.

MIA security is a known (and experienced) shitshow.

I thought TSA stopped doing this because it caused so many problems putting unfamiliar passengers into the Precheck lines. Either didn't get the memo or I may have remembered those reports incorrectly. Bummer for you
