At the Venetian all the regular rooms are suites and cost a lot less than your budget. They have more elaborate suites too for the high rollers of which I am not one. They have top notch restaurants and pools. It is my favorite Vegas hotel right now. Caesar's is my second favorite.

Cosmo corner suite.
$300-500/night I don't think that will fly. It might.

Hefner Suite, top of the Palms. Trust me.

Seriously though, on the strip, Caesar's, Wynn, Cosmopolitan. Off the strip, Palms or Hard Rock.

I'd have to agree with you about both V&P. Carnevino is unmatched as a steakhouse, except the couple of places serving Kobe, and I think they had Kobe last time I was there.

He mentioned he wasn't looking for party scene, and I think due to this V/P is the best bet. At V, you could potentially get in to their Prima Suite, and possibly upgraded.

Edit, OP also mentioned going for a week, so no way would he need to pay $500 every night. Probably get the Prima for $200ish, depending on level of play, and maybe $500 for any Fri and Sat night.

All b.s aside, almost all the better strip hotels have nicer suites. I got upgraded at Hard Rock on a Sun - Thurs and had a pool and bowling lane in my room. Hard Rock is obviously easier than V/P or Wynn.

Try the $20 trick. In your case since you are going for a week, try $100. You simply sandwich a $100 bill between your ID and your credit card at check in and ask if there are any complimentary upgrades available. It is very common in Vegas. If the agent at check in is able to find you an upgrade, they will keep the money. Or else they hand it back to you. I haven't tried this myself, but it works. I know I will definitely try this when I'm there in September. I'll let you know how it goes.

Not sure the $20 tip would work attempting to go from a standard room to a $500 per night suite. Depends what day I guess. I give $20 and skip the check in line, and I've gotten upgraded at the Hard Rock before as described above. But attempting to do this on a busy night at a better strip casino probably wouldn't get you a suite.

I'm guessing $20 at Wynn or V/P on a busy weekend might get you a better view.

Thanks for the replies. Ended up doing aria sky suites 1 BR penthouse. Got it for a touch over my budget based on my 6 night stay. It's also 5 diamond and Forbes 5 star. I'll post reviews after the trip. Thanks for the suggestions

I made a $50 sandwich at the Palazzo and it got me an upgrade from a standard room to a view right over the pirate show at TI. No big time suite or anything like that.

I'm not sure the $20 tip works any more since every hotel I've stayed at in the last 5 years or so has the front desk person pitch a discounted suit upgrade while they are checking you in. The hotels got smart and realized they should be getting paid for the upgrades, not their front desk people.

Also pools are mostly closed in November and room rates should generally be lower. There are a ton of rooms in Vegas called suites, but most are really mini suites and not super lavish. Are you looking for a real "suite" or just an upgraded room (more along the mini suite variety).

The best strip hotels for a younger crowd are Wynn/encore and Cosmo. The next best in no order are Aria, Venetian/palazzo and Caesars. Off strip I'd do hard rock or palms.
