People will tell you to do the architectural tour...

...so do the architectural tour.

Try and do it early on, as it'll give you things to look for/at in your remaining time.

If you like beer, I really enjoyed Half Acre Brewery.

Food: I know I get repetitive on this when people ask about Chicago, but I do it for a reason. Girl and the Goat. Call and make reservations ASAP if they have availability.

Purple pig is a nice lunch spot downtown...David Burke's Primehouse is also down there.

If you want a great place for craft cocktails, the Berkshire Room is great for that

Age? Friend trip? Family trip? Why are you limiting yourself to downtown?

Check and see what's playing at the Chicago theater. We caught Harry Connick, Jr. there a few weeks back and it was an awesome show. Lyft and Uber are really convenient there, so there really shouldn't be any reason to limit yourself yourself to just downtown.

Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium are both top notch.

Top of the John Hancock building has a great view, and may actually be a better view that from the Willis Tower.

Buckingham Fountain is fun to watch.

Not sure if it is still there, but there was a Tiffany Glass museum out on Navy Pier.

Get some deep dish pizza. We got ours at Pizzeria Ora in River North, mainly because it was right next to our hotel.

If you want to check out the Chicago blues scene, Blue Chicago is a pretty nice club on North Clark between West Ohio and West Grand.

It has been several years since I've been, but we were downtown on a cloudy day and didn't want to pay to go up in the Sears/Willis tower. Some local told us about a restaurant near the top of Hancock, so we did that instead. Might as well get a drink and appetizer for your money. I think it was there where the bathroom had a nice window to look out of as well.

ETA: Signature Room

Only problem here is that they charge out the arse for drinks because they know idiots like me will go there and pay it to check out the view.

Buy the City Pass - it gets you into all the major attractions for about half price.

True. But you can still go to 360 Chicago on the 94th. I think it costs $20 to go there, but we did a CityPass and got the Hancock and Willis tower admissions, plus Shedd, Field and a couple of other admissions.

This. I just got back from Chicago. We had a Go Chicago pass and did just about everything at a very good deal. Field Museum, Art Institute, Planetarium, Aquarium, 360 Chicago at Hancock, Architecture tour, Willis Tower.

LINK

Also, go to a comedy club - Second City in Old Town is where we went. Best part of the trip.

If Dave Matthews Band is in town, I'd skip the Chicago River Tour. If not, that was pretty fun as was walking the Navy Pier.

We just got back

Did a cubs game, the architectural tour, science and industry museum and had deep dish at Lou malnatis

None of them were disappointing. It was a really short trip and we wish we could have done more.

Walk along the Lake or near shedd/adler, amazing views of skyline. Personally, if the weather is good, I can walk all day and be happy.

I really would like to do the art institute, but any of the museums there are great.

Lincoln Park zoo is neat and free
