re: Can you connect an outdoor tv to cable without using a receiver? - pongze on 5/31/17 at 10:56 pm
Depends on what your source is. Before cutting the cord, I used a wireless hdmi set from monoprice to pretty good success. Actually, I guess I'm still using it, throwing a roku signal to a tv in my kitchen. Sorry, on mobile right now and can't link....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: PS Vue with Chromecast Question - pongze on 5/26/17 at 12:11 pm
It was easy to do on the firetv but I didn't see the option on roku when I first set it up. If you don't have a firetv, maybe try it on the PlayStation vue website. We have a separate user profile for me, my wife, and then the two of use together for the shows that we watch together. All under the s...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)

Any opinions on Flter VPN router? - pongze on 5/15/17 at 10:00 pm
Was on kickstarter and now Indiegogo, [link=(https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/flter-privacy-security-router-technology)]LINK[/link]. Thinking about taking the plunge with their lifetime subscription but it's always a crapshoot with these new products....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)

re: Vivint reviews - pongze on 5/7/17 at 1:17 pm
Perhaps it's because I'm a different state, but I've been happy with Vivint in California. Previously, they were APX, which I believe was banned in Louisiana. A few times, I've had some issues with customer service, but for the most part I've been happy. I had a problem with a sensor triggering fals...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)
re: Smart plug ins - pongze on 4/23/17 at 8:47 pm
We have a hot water recirculating pump in our garage. Our master bedroom is on the other side of the house. The convenience of switching that pump on and off from the master bathroom rather than going to the garage is worth the cost. ETA: the pump does have a timer built in, but my wife and I bot...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: HDMI splitters - pongze on 3/31/17 at 11:24 am
Don't the splitters downgrade to the lowest resolution and framerate?
I believe that this is the case. I tried to find one that could output different resolutions, but they will typically only do one resolution at a time. I set it to 4K and my 1080p unit couldn't process it. I'm s...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Medical residency spinoff. Rank the specialties - pongze on 3/17/17 at 10:42 am
We are a small rural hospital. Our ER docs can find the time to nap for 2-3 hours but can't do their charts
 at your generalizations then. Are your EM docs board certified EM residency trained? It's unfortunate, but most docs that meet that qualification will not be going to a...

re: AT&T Internet-Wifi Question - pongze on 3/16/17 at 11:42 am
Yes, that's what I was referring to. Before that came out, I instead got a ubiquiti UniFi LR access point that has worked out very well for me. They have their own mesh system called amplifi that I've read a lot of good reviews about....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: AT&T Internet-Wifi Question - pongze on 3/16/17 at 9:14 am
No, your internet speed has nothing to do with coverage. You could try a larger antenna, a power line solution, a repeater, or a mesh system like the new google wifi system. My apologies, no time for links right now. ETA: or, if possible, move your wifi router somewhere more central in your house...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Which vehicle should I sell? - pongze on 3/15/17 at 10:23 am
Real answer is you keep the one your wife wants to drive.
And this is the answer that I came up with late last night, which would mean keeping the Mercedes. Although, as I'm typing this, I'm think of my old activities for which I got my RAV4, namely, going to the mountains and hau...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Which vehicle should I sell? - pongze on 3/14/17 at 6:12 pm
there is,no way in hell I would pay $5000 for a vehicle with 191,000 miles on it.
Right? I'm thinking of selling the RAV4 based on that. The Mercedes has already lost so much value, there's not much more for it to lose. However, someone told me that they've never seen a German car ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
