re: Italian Rest recommendations NYC - pongze
Another vote for [link=(http://www.lartusi.com/)]L'Artusi[/link]. My wife and I and another couple just had a visit to NYC and (subtle brag) dined at both Per Se and Le Bernardin, and L'Artusi held its own in both quality and service. Outstanding place. We went at around 10 PM after a show, witho...

re: Why is medicine the only retail service that can't figure out billing? - pongze
Most of medicine is NOT retail service. Exceptions exist, such as many plastic surgery and dermatology services. I am an emergency room physician and if I get a patient coming in saying, "I want a CAT scan," I'm not going to be ordering it unless there is a medical necessity and benefit from that CT...

re: A Little News About Hamburger - pongze
I stopped eating my burgers medium rare after I learned about this in med school. Basically, there's bacteria from feces on the surface of the meat. Steaks are fine to eat rare because the surface gets seared, killing the bacteria. For ground beef, however, the bacteria gets mixed into the beef a...
This one was done on #1 Setting
Oh, wow, yeah, that's super thin. Thinner than what I get it with my thinnest setting. Perhaps because I'm not using semolina. It's kind of hard to find for some reason....

re: Beef Ravioli with Red Sauce (photos) - pongze
MD, Out of curiousity, have you tried making the pasta for the ravioli at thinner settings than 2 on your roller? Have you made other pasta, and if so, what setting do you prefer? I usually go to 8 (the thinnest) but just made a batch of tagliatelle at 7 and I'm not sure that I could tell the di...

re: anyone ever eaten at a jose andres restaurant? ... - pongze
My wife and I have had the pleasure of dining at three of his restaurants, all with tasting menus: SAAM, inside Bazaar in the SLS hotel in Hollywood e inside Jaleo in the Cosmo in Vegas Bazaar Meat in the SLS hotel in Vegas All three meals were fantastic and we were stuffed at the end. We ate...

re: Cecil the lion's killer revealed as American dentist - pongze
how much was this tour and was it popular?
If I'm remembering correctly, it was $160 per person and included transfer to/from. There were AM and PM sessions and it was limited in the number of people per session. The website says ten. We booked only one day in advance, but the mor...

re: Cecil the lion's killer revealed as American dentist - pongze
My wife and I visited South Africa and then Zimbabwe last year. We went on a [link=(http://www.lionencounter.com/)]"lion encounter"[/link] where we were able to take a stroll with a juvenile lioness. I encourage anyone interested to take a look at their website. We went for fun and to be able to ...

Egg, My wife and I will be traveling to Paris as well in mid to late May. We have traveled there the last several years and have found that it's a hard place to find a bad meal. The best meal that I have ever had, including from a price/value perspective was lunch at [link=(http://www.guysavoy....

The pad with the unit that circulates hot or cold water. Interestingly, the "cube" form factor looks a lot bigger than our units. Ours were part of a package with our bed, list price was $500 each for two twin xl size pads....

re: Question about a sprained / broken ankle - pongze
I am an ER physician. Google Ottawa ankle rules, that is the decision tool that we are supposed to use for x-raying ankles. But, my personal experience is that I broke my ankle snowboarding a few years ago and I wouldn't have x-rayed it initially based on the rules. I walked on it for about 5 d...

re: Cat 5 in older home (help me figure out what they did) - pongze
Posting a pic of the front will help. Probably 3 phone lines as the first reply says, given that it looks like 2 wires to each of those three terminals. I had to finish all the Cat5e wiring in my house a few years ago, and my notes in my phone show that there should be 8 wires for Cat5e wiring, ...

re: HDMI over Cat 5 Extender? - pongze
I was in a similar situation as you a few years ago and live fairly locally to Monoprice and got all of my equipment through them. I am pretty sure I got PID 8122 and it worked beautifully. You need an HDMI splitter so that you can have the output from your receiver split to your first TV and then...
