re: Smart plug ins - pongze
We have a hot water recirculating pump in our garage. Our master bedroom is on the other side of the house. The convenience of switching that pump on and off from the master bathroom rather than going to the garage is worth the cost. ETA: the pump does have a timer built in, but my wife and I bot...

re: HDMI splitters - pongze
Don't the splitters downgrade to the lowest resolution and framerate?
I believe that this is the case. I tried to find one that could output different resolutions, but they will typically only do one resolution at a time. I set it to 4K and my 1080p unit couldn't process it. I'm s...

re: Medical residency spinoff. Rank the specialties - pongze
We are a small rural hospital. Our ER docs can find the time to nap for 2-3 hours but can't do their charts
 at your generalizations then. Are your EM docs board certified EM residency trained? It's unfortunate, but most docs that meet that qualification will not be going to a...

re: AT&T Internet-Wifi Question - pongze
Yes, that's what I was referring to. Before that came out, I instead got a ubiquiti UniFi LR access point that has worked out very well for me. They have their own mesh system called amplifi that I've read a lot of good reviews about....

re: AT&T Internet-Wifi Question - pongze
No, your internet speed has nothing to do with coverage. You could try a larger antenna, a power line solution, a repeater, or a mesh system like the new google wifi system. My apologies, no time for links right now. ETA: or, if possible, move your wifi router somewhere more central in your house...

re: Which vehicle should I sell? - pongze
Real answer is you keep the one your wife wants to drive.
And this is the answer that I came up with late last night, which would mean keeping the Mercedes. Although, as I'm typing this, I'm think of my old activities for which I got my RAV4, namely, going to the mountains and hau...

re: Which vehicle should I sell? - pongze
there is,no way in hell I would pay $5000 for a vehicle with 191,000 miles on it.
Right? I'm thinking of selling the RAV4 based on that. The Mercedes has already lost so much value, there's not much more for it to lose. However, someone told me that they've never seen a German car ...

re: Which vehicle should I sell? - pongze
Which one has the higher insurance?
The RAV4 will be higher by about $300 per 6 months, but I should price it with progressive, which is what the Mercedes is through. The Mercedes is ridiculously cheap at $83 per 6 months...

Which vehicle should I sell? - pongze
So I'm picking up a new lease tomorrow. My wife got a new vehicle last summer. We kept her 2006 Mercedes C280 (sedan) as an extra vehicle. It has 193,500 miles. I currently drive a 2007 Toyota RAV4 (SUV) with 191000 miles. KBB says I can get about $1730 for her vehicle and $5300 for mine. I di...

Efrad, That link was money. I contacted them late Sunday evening, someone from the office of the president of AT&T called and left a message for me yesterday morning. This morning, I had my wife call her back on my phone and the phone was unlocked almost immediately (we waited 20 minutes before che...

re: AT&T won't unlock phone - pongze
She signed up on her plan maybe about 10 years ago. She reupped with them last year just about a week before every new contract was mandated to go on the NEXT plan. The $80 isn't to AT&T, it's to a website called iphoneimei.com that says that they can unlock a phone under contract. Already paid ...

AT&T won't unlock phone - pongze
My wife was on the grandfathered unlimited plan on a 2 year contract with AT&T. A few months back, she got an email and a letter saying that they would be raising the cost of her plan by $5/month, in the middle of her contract. They said that if she did not agree to the increase, she could cancel wi...

re: Is it hard to raise a puppy? - pongze
Thank you everybody for your advice and all of the well-wishers for the IVF. In a couple of weeks, both of our schedules lighten considerably, and we'll also have had our first pregnancy test to see if the embryo stuck. I might check with the owner and see if the pup is still available at that time....

Is it hard to raise a puppy? - pongze
I have the opportunity to get a really cute 8 - 9 week Maltipoo. However, my wife and I just went through IVF with implantation today. She is on bedrest for the next few days then goes back to work and I am working the for the next 7 days straight. We're not sure that we can give a puppy the time it...
