Thinking about bringing my girlfriend on a long weekend trip around late August early September. Wondering what cities would be good for this, don't travel much. Thanks in advance.

If we're limiting this list to cities. And given 3 day weekend, something within reasonable distance of Baton Rouge. I'd go with Austin, Nashville, Charleston, or Savannah.

Going into September is pretty much the best time to visit San Francisco.

Everything in the south will be hot as balls.

Is this a driving trip or a flying trip? Big difference.

Would be flying out of New Orleans. Try and leave early Friday morning come back Sunday night.

That would rule out flying 2 time zones west for me, you would most likely have to fly out early on Sunday to get back. I'd go to NYC, Chicago, or Miami.

Any time I try to pull off something like this I fly out Thursday night after work.

Anything keeping you from doing that?

Ya, if he's married to departing Friday morning he should stay east for sure.

i agree with this and would add DC and Boston if you're into history/politics or Charleston if you're wanting food and sun

and with this. you can get some pretty decent direct flights to NYC on delta and jet blue sometimes in the evening. it's so much easier, if you can afford it, to arrive that first night to settle in.

Atlanta was fun and super cheap.

Flew out first thing on a Friday- back Sunday evening. Round trip via southwest was $131. Stayed downtown within walking distance of most entertainment for $140 a night. Caught an uber from hotel and to 1-2 other places we wanted to visit.

Nola airport was a cluster frick at 4 am last week. Southwest has several flights first thing that could put you on the east coast before 9am their time. Then you can stay late and fly back Sunday gaining the hour.

which concourse? general security at B was fine at 4am a few days ago.

also, don't understand how more people aren't getting TSA pre/global entry. i've never had anyone in front of me at MSY.

One time I was at MSY and they had the TSA Precheck lines closed. So I figure, I got to do the song and dance.

So I'm paying attention, people are doing their thing. I get all the way up there and I've already got pretty much every thing removed which can be a PITA when you're planning on coasting through. TSA guy announces "If you are precheck you can just do your normal thing"

So I start putting my shite back on, and my laptop back in my bag. "BUT laptops have to be out"

I looked liked like a fricking idiot and I was very annoyed

Not sure if you went up to the syracuse game last year, but that was a great time for September. I'd recommend a getaway to the finger lakes near ithaca if you're looking for more romantic. Weather will be much better way up there than anywhere in the south, plenty of stuff to do, and I'm guessing a region you've never been to?

I disagree. He can leave in the morning on Friday, and be in very early on Friday. That gives him a full day on Friday, which I would rather have than a couple of extra hours on Sunday.

The west coast will, in likelihood, be much more comfortable than the east coast or the midwest.

It may be a little steamy in late August, but Miami would be fun for a weekend trip.

The whole point of Miami is to not wear clothes so this works in his favor.

Easy flight too. American flies a direct out of MSY that leaves pretty early and lands before lunch.

Thats why I suggested it. Quick and easy, plus Miami is a great place to get away for a couple days.

I hate everything about Miami. But that's probably because I'm there for work.
