Hey everyone

Work is providing me with an iPad loaded with our company software so I don't have to always get my huge laptop out for sales numbers, etc

They said to pick out what size I want and let them know

Never have had one, so asking which you think is best for that type of use? The mini or regular size?

FYI I'm normal size with normal size fingers and good vision.

don't get a mini if this is for work.. screen is too small.

i would get the 9.7 or the 12

go to best buy and physically hold them before you make a call of what internet people think

Good call. I'll do that.

Yeah I'm thinking mini for something lightweight

I'm going to put a case and keyboard on it and put it in my briefcase fwiw

I agree with Map.

I have a ipad2 9.7" with a case and it's super light.

If your company is purchasing, I would get the 12" Pro with the keyboard case.

Dont forget the Apple Pencil

Edit: I think the mini is made for women. It can fit in purses perfectly, and ones that I have previously bought for women have been adored by them. I'd like to suggest that you think about the sizes of the screens you currently have on your devices, and get a good variation between them (i.e. if you have an iPhone Plus, you wouldn't get an iPad Mini). But again, if work is paying and they don't care, get the 12" iPad Pro.

For work, go as large as possible. We have a pair of the Mini's at our house, and I've played around on the standard size a few times as well. Since you have a briefcase, consider it a laptop replacement and go big. Get a case with a Bluetooth keyboard in it. If it was just light use at home I'd go Mini for convenience, but you'll want the screen space, especially if you're showing things to customers on it.

Update everyone

Work has said they will buy us any size iPad with case and keyboard

So it's between the 10 and 12. Is the 12 too heavy and bulky?

Apple site with comparables

The 12 is a half a pound or so heavier.

I would go with the 12 and not think twice.

As others have said, if it's for work and free, get the largest one available. And use it as a laptop replacement.

Extra work space is one thing to never sell yourself short on in my opinion.

I like my Mini. If that was the biggest size Apple made, we wouldn't be having this conversation. People complain about small text size on monitors and then the next minute, they're read the print version of the Morning Advocate and don't give it a second thought. They complain because they can.

I felt like the 12 was too big to be really portable. I use a 9.7 pro with keyboard and pen. If need something bigger I take my Lenovo X1 carbon which is 12 inch and about 2.5lb.

I use a surface pro which I would equate to the 12 incher and find it perfect for my use. Just curious, what do you do that makes the 9 feel better?

And just the thought of using two computers irks me

Having a work one and a personal one is bad enough

I have the normal size one (~10") for work and it does everything I need to do. I have decent vision and have normal size hands. I would suggest one of those cases that opens out, turns sideways and prop's on an angle. No need for a big otter box case unless your a superintendent on a construction/job site I figure.

I held the larger one the other day. It is entirely too big for my taste. G'luck.

Thanks Dennis, im with you

its funny how things work out. I was dead set on the 12.9 but still wanted to test one out first.

was on a flight yesterday and the guy next to me got out his 12.9 and started working so i asked him about it. he said he regrets getting the 12.9 and misses his 9.7 for situations like those. It was HUGE and barely fit on his tray.

he said its a great device, but misses the ease of the 9.7. i tried it out and its great, but the 9.7 is best for me right now. I have a 13 inch laptop and i just need something a little smaller and quicker to use.

If 13" is huge to you I would have suggested the 9.7 earlier on.

I have a 17" Laptop, which I consider "huge"

Me and my wife have the 10, If someone else was paying for it I would definitely get the 12 but I have no complaints with mine.

IDK why anyone would get a Mini....It is basically a phone.

Not to highjack, but…

Trying to decide between the iPad Air 2 or iPad Pro (both 9.7).

The Air 2 can be had sub $400 vs the Pro around $500. Worth the extra $100?

I dont need anything with a lot of processing power, just something more portable than my laptop and bag when traveling for meetings, emails, and web.

ETA: The integrated Smart Keyboard for the Pro is appealing but not sure how much better it is than aftermarket offerings for the Air. Anyone have experience here?
