I got my invite over a month ago but am not going to use it. Is there a way to share it with someone? AT&T is actually cheaper for me.

How do you guys like the coverage so far? This is a mix of Sprint and Tmob towers, is that correct? I'm on TMob now and mostly have no complaints about coverage but once in a while I do so I'm thinking having the extra towers from Sprint could pay off. Although, I like my Note Edge so I would want to be able to use other phones. The Nexus 6 is cool though. My invite says 2-3 weeks, I just did it to get an invite, doubt I'll go for it anytime soon as I'm happy with TMob. Maybe as an extra line..

I transferred from Sprint to Project Fi, so for me the network seems to have no downside with the addition of TMobile coverage, as you'd expect.

So far the Project Fi coverage map seems pretty accurate, so you can get an idea of how your coverage should change by comparing this with your current carrier's map.

Just signed up for an invite. I work in Afghanistan and the phone will work here with Unlimited texting, same price for data as states($10/Gb though only on 3g), and most calls to the US are free.

Yeah, TMob is really good coverage in Waikiki. I've gotten crazy fast results on Speedtest. But having the extra Sprint towers couldn't hurt when I'm traveling to some parts of the island or to Kauai where TMob can be weak sometimes. I'll wait to see if they start to let people use whatever phone they want. Thanks for the map link.

A nice surprise with Project Fi - or maybe it's the Nexus 6 phone - is the vastly improved voice quality over our home WiFi network.

Callers have already remarked how surprisingly clear my voice sounds now.

This might give us the option to drop our cable network landline (VoIP) service.

Man, I don't know what criteria Google uses to approve financing the Nexus 6, but they declined me with a ~750 score. Maybe because I just opened a new credit card, bought a new car, and re-financed another car? Really strange.

Worked out for the better though as I financed it on the Motorola site(0% interst as well) and they had the 64gb one in stock, while Google did not. Should be here Monday.

Can't wait to get rid of AT&T and the iPhone.

It seemed interesting, but Cricket Wireless is a much better deal. $50 gets me talk, text and 3GB of data through Project Fi. $55 gets me 10gb of data through Cricket.

Cricket's "4G" maxes out at 8mbps. That may or may not be a problem for some people. Also, if you don't use your 10gb, you lose it with no credit or rollover. But, Cricket's pricing apparently includes taxes and fees, whereas taxes and fees will be added on top of Fi's rates.

Fi probably isn't the best deal for a lot of people, but that's why I'm hopeful Google lowers the pricing in the future after they get more people on.

yeah a buddy of mine got on cricket recently and is switching over alot of his people because of the cheap pricing structure.

i thought of doing the same but am interested in at least trying Fi out first.

So far the best feature of Project Fi is the Nexus 6 phone with the latest Android build, and without all of the bloatware my old carrier used to run on their phone.

SMS messages on Project Fi consistently appear in under 10 seconds, while my old Sprint phone could take hours. This is a big deal for me because I use SMS to authenticate to several websites.

Another bonus is that Project Fi charges $0.01 per minute to call landlines in Mexico. A family member is vacationing there this week, and it's nice to have clear, dirt-cheap calls.

Only downside I've seen so far(granted it's only been a couple of days) is the cell signal isn't as strong inside buildings as AT&T's was. Not that big of a deal as I'm usually on Wifi while inside, and I did read T-Mobile was upgrading all their towers right now so maybe it will improve.

So I got my welcome kit, which is pretty fricking sweet. Comes with the standard earbuds and case, but they threw in a big battery pack too! Pretty nice.

But now I find myself hesitant to activate. I'm looking at a big ETF with AT&T, so I'd rather not cancel just yet. But I don't want to pay two phone bills, either. I did some reading, and it looks like I can just swap sims after I activate Fi, so I can test the service for a month while keeping my AT&T service active. If I do that and then cancel Fi, I should be able to keep my Voice number after that, right? The warnings about all that are a little confusing to me. And then later if I decide to switch for good, it shouldn't be a problem to port my AT&T number, right?

My understanding is you can switch back to AT&T if Fi doesn't work for you and take your number back to them. I don't know how it works with a Voice number. I never used mine.

I'm starting to question if the switch will work for me long term. Although the coverage map has me covered, the lack of quality signal while inside and not on Wifi is concerning. I was in the grocery store last night and didn't get a single text from the wife, but had 4 from her when I got out to the car.
