The only big differences I see from AT&T is the signals aren't as strong inside buildings, and the LTE network isn't as broad. I'm on 3G signal a lot, mostly on T-Mobile. That isn't that big of a deal to me, but the signal inside buildings has been troublesome a few times.
Even though I couldn't make calls, the signal was strong inside my house, on par with or better than AT&T. And the data was very fast. I'm worried about where I work though, because even AT&T's signal is weak outside and nonexistent inside the metal building. Of course with Fi it would hand off to the wifi, but I'm still concerned about the signal outside.

The signal thing definitely varies greatly depending on your area. AT&T has great LTE coverage around Birmingham. I never had a problem getting a signal, even in most buildings.

T-Mobile has great coverage here, but it isn't always LTE. I'm on a 3G T-Mobile signal more than I am an LTE signal from them. I rarely pick up a Sprint signal, so no idea on them.

The big thing I'm looking forward to seeing is how the signal will be in Tuscaloosa for football games. I could pretty much forget about using my phone in Tuscaloosa on game days with AT&T. It was horrible. My buddy never had a problem with Verizon. Not sure how T-Mobile and Sprint are as I don't know anyone that used them.

Game days are a problem for all networks, as there is no reason to invest in permanent towers to handle all those phones for a handful of days out of the year. The providers with good service probably roll in some mobile towers on game days to handle the load.

True. I don't expect perfect coverage all day, but AT&T wouldn't work at all a large majority of the day. For a 2:30 kickoff, my signal would be toast starting around 9-10 in the morning, and was pretty much useless until well after the game. Meanwhile, my buddy with Verizon is getting/making calls and texts, checking his email, looking at Twitter, etc. the whole day, save for maybe the hour leading up to kickoff.

I know AT&T rolled in mobile towers, but it didn't help. I'm just curious to see if I see a marked improvement in signal with Fi. If I don't, no biggie. I've gotten used to it.

My service is up and running great so far, activated within 15 minutes and number transfer took about 5 hours.

On Chroma rom with no issues, 102r modem.

Well, after 28 emails back and forth with Fi support, I couldn't get calls to work on Chroma. I ended up flashing back to stock and it worked. Kind of upsetting since I've seen so many people say it worked for them on Chroma, so I guess I just had something funky with my setup.

I requested the invite for Fi a month ago and haven't heard shite. Do they send an email when you are good to go or do you just check the Fi website every so often?

They'll email you.

I requested an invite in May and didn't get it until late July. I think they're turning them around quicker now though.

Any updated impressions? Worth it?

Just got my invite, and thinking about it big time. Would be coming from Sprint.

Well true, but still. Sprint's Customer Service, blah. Their network hasn't been terrible to me.

Mines been great, no complaints. I tend to be on Sprint more than TMO. I'd recommend it.

Just got my invite yesterday. I have a new Note Edge so I won't be switching yet, but will consider it after a little longer with this phone. Maybe Fi will open up more phones to them instead of just the N6.

Do you have to choose which provider you're on? I thought it was just the best of TMob and Sprint, no?

I think it's been more than worth it. I came from AT&T where I was paying almost $90 per month, and paid $44 for my first month on Fi. Only issues I've had is spotty service inside buildings(hasn't ended up being that big of a deal) and weak signal at our farm, but my FIL has a Verizon hotspot so I just get on it and it works fine.

The LTE network isn't as good as AT&T's, but the 3G I've been on isn't so much slower that it's not useful.

I think it'd be a no-brainer coming from Sprint or T-Mobile because you're adding another network to your service. Unless you're a heavy data user. Then it may not be cost effective. I've only used 1.2GB of my 2GB this month, and I have 4 days left on my billing cycle. So I'll get a small credit on next month's bill.

By far the biggest adjustment for me has been going from 7 years of iPhone use to an Android phone.

The next phones to use Fi will likely be the new Nexus phones. It will probably be a long time before your Note will work, if ever.

You don't have to choose like you do with other MVNOs. It hops from Tmob to Sprint to wifi as necessary.

And these are at worst a couple of months out. Thinking about waiting for them.

I read somewhere that there won't be any other phones that work on Fi while it is still in Beta testing. And I don't think Google has said how long Beta testing will be. No idea how true that is though.
