How could google eliminate such an integral user interface function!?!?
I don't know when this was enabled, but it just hit my browser.

Alt + left is for chumps.

According to the developers, it is only partly enabled now, but will be coming out with new updates.

Install the "Back to Backspace" extension from the web store. Restores the functionality they took out

Good riddance. I've accidentally navigated backwards enough times to hate that "feature"

There have been times I've backspaced while filling out a long web-based form, accidentally navigated back a page, and the form information wasn't saved when I clicked forward again.

That is the reason they are disabling it. Forms.

1. Not many people are using a mouse on laptops
2. Not all mice have thumb buttons

This extension works well. My only gripe is that if you hit backspace enough, you still get the prompt to hit Alt + < to backspace.

Can't you two finger swipe back?

IMO, backspace is for text manipulation and shouldn't perform another function without a modifier key.

Haven't used the backspace button in years. Don't have to with this mouse..Note the 2 thumb buttons on the side. Save tons of keystrokes per day. "The thumb buttons come programmed to let you move back and forth through Web pages or photo albums..."

I'm mobile and working on a laptop 95% of the time. I ain't got no time for a mouse that I'll end up losing.
