Best webcam for watching your dog?

My wife would get a kick out of peeking in on the dog when we are out or she is at work. I assume one that tilts/pans is the best type? There are pet specific models that I am sure are at a premium (I don't need to remotely give my dog a treat).

Any suggestions?

I have two Foscam wireless in my house. Not only for security with recording on a DVR, but also for watching our GSD. They are awesome.

we have one of these for exactly that reason. Dont really use any of the security features as we have additional systems dedicated to that...

It works well for spying on the dog. Very clear picture as opposed to other webcams we've tried. The environmental monitoring is pretty cool too.

Big fan of Nest. You can set up zones and monitor for motion and sound.

no offense, but all cameras do this. as long as it has a built-in mic, everything you described is a function of software, not hardware. somehow nest has the average joe hoodwinked into thinking a subscription based mediocre camera that costs $200 is the best thing going.

last time i checked, there was no motor in the nest to rotate your camera 365 degrees in any direction like a $60 foscam.

I have always heard a lot about the Foscam's but there are so damn many models. Knowing what features are things I would actually like is tough.

That canary looks like a polished product. Does it also use a battery or are they leaving out the power plugs in their video to make it look better?

I'm a fan of using what you have on hand instead of spending needless money. If you have an old smartphone you aren't using, there are apps that will let you just put your old phone on a charger and do this just fine.

We went this route with an old iphone 4s and then used a regular audio baby monitor that had a lot more features than the shitty baby cam ones.

They have no battery. So if the power goes out, they go out. However, once you set them up you don't have to worry about them at all. The reset themselves after outages. You can move them from outlet to outlet with no problems. During the summer we have an old man who steals our figs, so I move 1 camera to look outside, and yell at him though the speaker. Then when the seasons over I'll move it back to another location. I never have to reconnect anything, just plug it back in.
One bad note, they make you use a new app, which sucks! I never updated my old app so it still works. There may be other apps that work with them, but I'm too lazy to try.

I use an old android note 3 as an IP cam to watch, and frick with, my dogs. 1080p with two way speaker/microphone. Cheap solution if you have an old android lying around. The app I use is IP Webcam pro.
