Anyone Have A Windows Phone?

I'm looking for a replacement to my Nexus 5x, which bootlooped. Currently using my old Moto X(2014) and it's pretty much fine, so I know I don't need the latest and greatest flagship device.
I had settled on a Huawei Honor 8, but keep reading horrible things about EMUI 4 and 5. Thought I'd try the Moto G5+, but I hate that camera bump and the camera isn't that great.
Came across an Alcatel Idol 4S+ on Tmobile's website and it looks like a great device. Good build quality, decent camera, awesome speakers, etc...for $288. Only thing is it's a Windows phone, which I really don't have a problem with. Just wondering if anyone here has ever used a Windows phone and how they felt about it?

I along with a few others on here used to love Windows Phone. It was quick, efficent, and an overall great OS. For some reason though, Microsoft doesn't give one shite about it. The app situation is pitiful and there is little to no support even for the current devices.
If I were you, I'd look at the One Plus 3, LG G5, HTC 10, Nexus 6P (if you wanna go back in that realm, ZTE Axon 7/Axon 7 Mini,

I used Windows for 4 years. I really liked the OS, but the lack of apps and the lack of support for existing apps pushed me away. Microsoft has been buying a lot of companies that make it easy to port apps across platforms. If they can ever figure out a way to successfully do that, they might be worth trying again.

Same old story...If you can live with a really basic app selection, I think the newer Lumia phones are really great devices. The OS is well laid out and fast even on mid-grade, inexpensive hardware. If I didn't need particular apps for work that aren't available for Windows Phone 10, I would still be using my Lumia. As others said, the base OS is really good. I like it better than Android 6/7 and iOS 10. The lack of apps killed it for most people, including me.

G5+ camera is supposed to be fine

Pretty much what everyone has said.
The actual OS operates smoothly and even after years, it still operates smoothly. I've always heard android starts fast then slows to crap.
Hell, I had windows 10 on my lumia 920 and it worked albeit a tad slow because the 920 never had to end specs. The app gap is what might really turn most folks off coming from another eco system.
Going forward Microsoft hasn't signaled they give a single frick about the phone. Hell, they bought Nokia, ran it into the ground, twiddled their thumbs, canceled the McLaren, then wrote off the purchase.
I don't use a pile of apps so I'm happy with the phone even though windows 10 wasn't ready when they first released it. I can't recommend the phone given the lack of apps and lack of support from Microsoft.

Loved the interface on my Lumia, but I couldn't go back to it because of the lack of app support

I've got a 950XL. Wife wants me to take her S7 Edge so that she can get an S8. If Microsoft ever gets out the Surface phone that will be a game changer.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the Windows Phone except the fact that they were late getting to market and don't offer a compelling reason to switch.
Once you're late, you have to convince people to switch over and although the Windows Phone offering isn't at all bad it doesn't offer anything Google and Apple don't already have and then some.
A textbook example of why you can compete as #2 but it sucks to be #3.

I have one and love it. I don't use a lot of apps, but have pretty much been able to find what I need. Really like the interface. Over the past few years I'd decided a couple times to go get an android phone, and switched back within two weeks each time.

There are too many great phones in that price range to settle for a Windows. 6Ps are going for 300 all day long on Swappa.

Had a cheap one for an in between. Loved it but the app selection is really what killed it.

We just got my wife's 5x back from LG for the boot loop issue. Have you sent yours in? They're honoring phones that are out of warranty too. I thought ours was in warranty, but turns out it was a month past the date, and they still replaced the motherboard for free. The turn around time was about a week.

I bought mine from Project Fi. They sent me a refurb as a replacement. That one sucked, so I convinced them to give me a refund.
I'm looking at Huawei Honor 8, Mate 9, and possibly a Galaxy S7. Can't find the Alcatel Idol 4S where to see in person, so I don't think I'll get it. Supposed to be really quality build though and T-Mobile has the Windows version for $288, but no one has it in stores.

Gotcha. Good luck with your search.

MS is having the same problem BlackBerry did: apps. MS can actually dump money into apps and still can't get them. MS has tried but can't get developers on board. Very frustrating.

Windows phone OS market share is less than 1%. There's a reason they don't support it.

Yup. Chicken and Egg.
You can't get market share without apps but then you can't get apps without market share.
Keep in mind MS has been willing to throw money at developers and it makes no difference. They just want to do Apple and Android.
