My samsung seems to be on its last legs, and I've been seeing some decent deals on LG OLEDs. Anyone have any experience with them? Still happy with your purchase? Anything I should know about them? I'm not too up to date on my tv knowledge, but have seent these in person and was impressed.

I think the only issues are that they are still expensive compared to other tv's and 65 inches is the largest screen size that's available without needing to sell a kidney on the black market.

If I was shopping for a tv 65 inches or less I'd bite the bullet and go oled, however, for my living room setup, I'd rather get a 75 inch lcd/led as I'd rather have the extra real estate.

I don't think I could do an OLED. I rarely watch TV /movies in a dark room. Also I ply a lot of video games and I would be afraid of burn in.

Both of those concerns are better than with plasma, which I currently have, so I'm interested in OLED, eventually. The main concerns I have are with issues at near-black, where there may be uniformity problems that don't affect my plasma.

This

OLED is not for me either. My living room has a lot of light and I watch more live sports than movies. I did a side by side with a Sony A1E and a Z9D with the same 4K source. When you pause the image you can really see where OLED lacks brightness and color. Z9D had by far a better image for how I use my TV.

You don't think OLED will ever do proper HDR?

Don't get me wrong OLED beautiful, but like I said for how I use my TV a similar quality LED is a better choice. My living room has a lot of natural light. I need a brighter display. I watch more live sports than anything, those aren't in HDR.

Gonna jump in on this as well...
I wouldn't say my room is bright, but it definitely isn't dark and we are repainting soon with brighter colors (not necessarily bright, but maybe light green/grey in color) so I assume it would make the room brighter. Btw I'm color blind to those colors
But I still think the new colors and big windows will make it brighter than that brown/taupe or whatever the color is we have now.

I like the OLED, but have read good things about the songs mentioned above. Is it the going sentiment to not go OLED if the room is bright. I watch most sports (football, baseball, soccer etc) and a good bit of Netflix and hbo series etc. would I be better off without an OLED?

55"-65" max. Probably closer to 55" size size is what I would need. I'm upgrading from a 46", so 55" would be huge compared to what I have.

I absolutely love my LG oled. I have the 65ef9500. HDR looks great. Might not be as good as some other newer LCDs due to lack of NITs but it still looks amazing. Burn in is a non factor. Lag is a factor for video games though- I know my model isn't as responsive as some others. It is easily bright enough in my living room and I have windows all along my wall facing the tv. It just looks so amazing at night. I am still amazed sometimes. I do turn off every light when we watch movies on Saturday and Sunday nights but I did this with my 40 inch Samsung too. The blacks are so perfect that it almost gives everything a 3d effect from images popping out of the screen. The new B series is two years newer than mine and gets great reviews. The 55 inch isn't that expensive either. I would fully recommend it.

Also, the design of it is beautiful. The lack of bezel and thickness are incredible.

Bought the LG OLED65C6P last fall to replace my Panny ST60 plasma. It's the closest thing to a plasma I could find. The OLED is our living room TV used for casual viewing and the room gets a fair amount of natural light and performs great in that environment.
