re: Transferring info from multiple CD/DVDs to a computer - can I do it faster? - GeauxTigers2007
If you don't need it to be a full computer, you could just get a USB autoloader connected to a PC via USB, and set up some software to copy the CD/DVDs to the server. LINK
Interesting...I'll look in to this. Thanks ...

Transferring info from multiple CD/DVDs to a computer - can I do it faster? - GeauxTigers2007
We have information coming in to the office every day on CDs and DVDs that need to be transferred to our server. Usually it's anywhere from 6-12 disks per day. I'm wanting to build a cheap computer with 5-6 DVD drives that will allow me to transfer the info off the disks quickly, rather than 1 dis...

re: Need help building a photo/graphics editing PC - GeauxTigers2007
I probably would like to put some kind of dedicated GPU in, just because rumors are indicating that Lightroom and other Adobe CC programs will start making use of them. Also, may be a dumb question, but don't I need a sound card also? I'm just using two crappy speakers, but I assume I'll need a ...

Need help building a photo/graphics editing PC - GeauxTigers2007
Looking for some help on a build for a budget photo and graphics editing machine. Already have a dual monitor setup, so no need for a monitor. Primarily use Adobe CC programs (Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Some requirements - at least an i5 processor, SSD (if 250GB or under, needs ad...

re: Synology NAS question - GeauxTigers2007
So I assume any computer connected to the network can access the DSM (assuming you have the login info). Assuming this to be true, I could plug an external hard drive into any computer on the network to pull info off the NAS for archiving purposes, correct?...

Synology NAS question - GeauxTigers2007
I know next to nothing about these. Is the DSM an OS that can be run simply be attaching a monitor to the hardware, or is it a program that needs to be installed on a server/desktop connected to the hardware?...

re: Official Cutting The Cord Thread - GeauxTigers2007
Are there any precautions I can take if I loaded TVMC/Kodi on my FireTV? New to streaming, and don't know if there are any steps to protect myself. Is it a bad idea to watch moves in the "In Theaters Now" section, or are you just as likely to get caught watching anything else?...

re: Sling TV Deal - Choose Amazon Fire TV Stick for Free or $50 Off Amazon Fire - GeauxTigers2007
FWIW - you can access a limited amount of programming with the Watch ESPN app too. I think it restricts it to ESPN 1, 2, and 3, and does not allow SEC network, etc. though.
I believe you can access those channels on WatchESPN if you have the Sports Addon package though, correct?...

Creating my own "cloud" backup service? - GeauxTigers2007
About to move to a new office location where we will be updating our server during this time. Probably will be incorporating a new NAS. I'm just wondering if someone could explain how I could set it so that I could backup my home computer to the NAS at my office. What program would I use, etc? Dep...

re: ELI5: XBMC Streaming - GeauxTigers2007
Didn't have much time to mess with it, but I did try the top two options. Are there certain one's I should look for that are better than others? Also, are most streams 2.0 channel audio? Most of the ones I have tried seem to be. ...

re: ELI5: XBMC Streaming - GeauxTigers2007
So I got the Fire TV and I'm running TVMC on it. Super easy setup, easier than I expected. But when I try to watch a stream from a recent episode (aired last night), I keep having buffering issues/freezing. All other stock apps work fine, so I assume it's not my network. Would it be an issue with TV...

Does the Firetvstick allow streaming of local files out of the box? Or do I have to have TVMC installed to do that?...

re: AMazon Echo $99 - GeauxTigers2007
Just out of curiosity I called amazon. While I know you have to take what customer service reps say with a grain of salt, she seemed to think these dates were more of a placeholder date until they can get more units ready to ship. Seemed fairly confident they would ship much earlier....

re: Difference between DD5.1/DTS and Dolby TrueHD/DTS-MA - GeauxTigers2007
In my opinion, I'd wait until I needed to upgrade instead of upgrading for the sake of getting DTHD/DTSMA. To me, it seems to have a better low end, but other than that, I can't tell a huge difference. But then again, I have partial hearing loss in one ear, so.......
