Ola Toivonen took advantage of a Hugo Lloris blunder as the Swedish striker (who plays in Ligue 1) hammered in a strike from midfield while the French keeper scrambled, and failed, to stop it as the clock expired on stoppage time at Friends Arena in Stockholm.

It’s a stunning finish that puts the Swedes even with France at the top of their World Cup qualifying table.

Hugo dribbles outside of the box and tries to hit a pass down the middle — under pressure — to kill the clock off. He overcooks it, and a Swedish player steps right into a long distance goal with about 10 seconds left in a 1-1 game.

WTF was that goalie thinking? Just kick it out of bounds or something.

That's like what happens on FIFA when you try to beat the entire opposing team with you keeper, but you mess it up.

That result makes it extremely hard for the Netherlands to qualify for Russia. It would be almost unthinkable for the Oranje to miss two major tournaments consecutively.

I don't think it hurts the Netherlands much
They're only 3 points back and still have to play both Sweden and France again

Fun fact: I have never seen Hugo use his right foot.

Also, as a Spurs fan i'm surprised this hasn't happened to him yet. He's a great shot-stopper but he'll do some hold on by the seat of your pants stuff pretty often.

As someone that bought a super bright orange Netherlands jacket in 08, I agree that they're usually fun to watch. That being said, do we really want to see them if they're struggling this much in qualifying?

As a Spurs fan, I'm all for Lloris struggling in the international stage. It makes him less attractive to other clubs. He is a great keeper, but he can be weak with his feet.
