They don't have to send anyone home, they just can only have 23 players available on match day.

The 23 against T&T can be different than the 23 against Mexico.

Bruce QnA

Not good news for Greg Garza
quote:

ussoccer.com: DaMarcus Beasley continues to stay in the National Team picture. As the person that gave him his first National Team appearance in 2001, talk about his career longevity and the potential for him to become the first U.S. player to appear in qualifiers for five different World Cups.

BA: “I think he’s had a great career and the longevity speaks for itself. He’s still been a good player in Major League Soccer, and that’s why we still have him on the roster. We haven’t found any players that can push DaMarcus out of the position he has right now with the National Team. He’s not only a good player, he’s a good teammate and he’s going to do whatever is necessary to make our team successful. It’s a real plus to have him, and it would be a fabulous accomplishment if he becomes the first U.S. player to appear in qualifiers for five different World Cups. Looking down the road, it would be incredible if he played in another World Cup. My hat is off to DaMarcus. He’s had a terrific career.”

Garza cannot stay healthy for more than a month it seems. Hopefully this season with atl will get him in a groove but he has already missed time this early in the season.

This is one of our strongest camps in a long long time.

That's a very strong roster. Bruce has given the SB exactly what it's been asking for for the last couple of years basically. No glaring exemptions unless I'm missing someone.

ETA Jesus Christ Dax McCarty can't help but look sloppy as all frick

Ehhh, no Sacha-stash or Benny after all that talk about finding a true number 10, but I guess Jesus Pulisic fixed that problem. Have a feeling we will see one, if not both of them in the Gold Cup though considering Bruce said that he will be giving a lot of our Euro-based guys a break this summer.

Forgot about Sacha. I like having him as an option off the bench but Benny is a big meh for me at this point. We have other players that do what he does and do it better.

Pulisic sure, but after that, who?

Ehhh... he is a good winger, but he still makes some questionable decisions in the final third. Nagbe is the better overall player, but as a pure #10, I'd take Benny and Sacha over him.

Fair enough. It's either/or for me. I don't think those 2 omissions will be the reason we win or lose.

Never said that. Like I said, Pulisic renders them as surplus, but you said earlier that Bruce has given us what we've asked for as fans and I was just pointing out how that isn't exactly true because we've been clamoring for Benny for years and Bruce hasn't seemed to really rate him when it matters despite being one of the better performers during the January camp.

Are you sure this is the case? It seems more like a vocal minority to me. He's a good player IMO don't get me wrong. A really good MLS player. Just not the difference maker some would have you believe. We're now a few years and two different managers into the Benny not being part of the full, non-January camp roster. It looks like it's just not gonna happen for the guy at this point. The Sacha omission is worse for me.

Yes.

Considering for the entire time of Jurgen's tenure we had no #10, while Benny was finally putting together consistent MVP-caliber seasons at that same time, he definitely deserved a shot.

t looks like it's just not gonna happen for the guy at this point.

I'll finally bury Benny's USMNT career if he doesn't get a Gold Cup call up.

Why? He has been very mediocre by every metric with NYRB so far this season.

Timmy Chandler withdraws from #usmnt camp with a hamstring injury. No replacement immediately named. Roster currently stands at 26.

Did he even travel or was this something he picked up at Eintracht?

This is a great roster selection. Only even remotely questionable absences are Jones if he is ready to go, Kljestan, Feilhaber, Kitchen, and Danny Williams.
