Some Barca player, either busquets or pique, was setting a goddamn pick to free puyol up on that play. Gotta call the offensive foul there

ETA: Nesta committed the initial foul, Puyol tried to set a pick.

Puyol was essentially tackling Ambrosini on the second who in turn pulled down Busquets who he was marking

It looked like a pick on Nesta, who wouldn't have fallen down if he didn't have the whole back of Busquets jersey in his hand.

How is that ignorance? They just said the exact same thing on the halftime show

How did Ibramovic not get it over the wall from there? Barca's bookends on the wall are 5'7 in their cleats on concrete.

Also, the 2nd pk shouldn't have been given. Abidal was purposefully picking Nesta. Shitty call.

Meh the second was definitely weak.

He better be consistent and call a PK on every following CKs.

If level of contact that occurred on that play, in the box, was consistently called you would have a point for a penalty being given, but it isn't.

I'd argue that physicality is called harsher in European games, hence why you see finesse teams do so well in the competition.

No problem with the first pk, but the second one was bullshite. You cant have dudes body checking defenders who are trying to mark their man to free people up and give a Pk on it 16 yards from the goal when the ball isn't close to the play

I agree it was a foul but not a pk. A pk is just such a huge call in a game, you're essentially giving a team a goal, that to give one right there was the wrong call IMO

Well I didn't see the Puyol pick, but Nesta grabbed Busquets jersey first, causing the calamity in the box.

I wish we had the caliber Gary Lineker's punditry in the States.

Milan will be out of this game in the second half because they have to feel like the refs are out to screw them

After watching that replay, it was 100% a wash. Both teams were at fault and like others had said calling nothing would have been a better decision then a penalty which lead to not only a goal but 2 yellow cards.

I meant Puyol obviously picked Nesta. It's been a long day.

This is stupid. PK is by definition a result of a foul in the box.

That's the problem with the typical English/American approach to the game. There is ot delineation between contact allowed in the box resulting in a PK, and contact allowed outside of the box resulting in a FK.

It was the right call, just a call that English/American viewers don't quite understand. The Laws of the Game disagree with your sentiments.

That's my main thing. Both teams were at fault but to make a call of such magnitude when the ball isn't even in play is too much. Why was that not a penalty for AC??? It's a foul anywhere else on the field

Yes. There most definitely is.

Not in the written rules, but it is always there

Hell there was already contact in the other box that would've been a free kick but no pk was given

There could have been a penalty right there. Couldn't quite see if it was a dive or not by ibra. Robinhos was a straight up flop for sure, alves out muscled him
